Chapter 257 - Chapter 257: At the Bottom of the Food Chain

"Haah... I won't forget this. I'll remember all of you, humans!"

The colossal black beast roared before its body dissolved and vanished into the air. Its voice gradually faded into silence, leaving behind nothing but the devastation and destruction the battle had wrought.

The blue skeletal Susanoo then turned toward the young man clad in battle armor, who stood before the enormous box whose four sides were carved with the faces of mythical beasts, and asked,

"How did it go?"

The armored young man let out a weary sigh before lifting his head. A satisfied smile spread across his face despite the exhaustion left by the battle.

"It was a success. The box has been sealed."

At that very moment, Dan smiled to himself as he witnessed the conclusion of the entire incident. Just as he had expected, Hagoromo's descendants had ultimately dealt with the demonic box. More precisely, the current reincarnations of Indra's and Asura's chakra had taken responsibility for the matter themselves.

Although the current inheritors had not yet reached the peak of power attained by their predecessors, they were already remarkably strong. Without exaggeration, they could be considered among the most powerful individuals in the world . excluding the Walt family and the few people who had trained under their guidance.

After a fierce and exhausting battle against the demon, whose unique ability allowed it to read the emotions of its opponents and manipulate them to its advantage, the two reincarnations succeeded in overcoming that power. They found a way to reach the box and seal it once more. For the time being, the crisis had come to an end, bringing relief to a world that had suffered widespread destruction, mass displacement, and countless lives consumed by the creature.

Dan then shifted his full attention back to the vast Inner World, which, after all the years of labor he had devoted to its construction, had become overflowing with life and saturated with incredibly dense natural energy.

His gaze swept across the humans and the other intelligent races that had emerged and settled throughout its many regions during the hundreds of thousands of years that had passed under the immense time-accelerating effects of the Casimir phenomenon.

"It seems humanity is in a truly miserable state."

The condition of humanity within this Inner World could be described quite accurately as being near the very bottom of the food chain throughout most regions. Only a handful of scattered enclaves remained where humans possessed enough strength to survive, organize themselves, and maintain small pockets of civilization.

The other species that had evolved within this world, nourished by its immense reserves of natural energy, had reached levels of power that humanity could not hope to rival. The dense natural energy permeating every corner of the world overwhelmingly favored the older races that had existed there the longest. Since humans had been the last race introduced into this world, they naturally found themselves occupying its weakest position.

Dan, however, felt no concern whatsoever. Humanity's miserable condition had never been an accident or an unforeseen flaw. It had been part of the original design he had conceived from the very beginning, because he understood that the human race revealed its greatest beauty and potential only under pressure.

Likewise, when his children eventually entered this world, they would not arrive as its strongest beings. They would not stand at the top as unquestioned rulers. Instead, they would find countless regions inhabited by creatures far beyond their current abilities, forcing them into circumstances very much like those endured by the humans struggling to survive there.

That was precisely what his sons and daughters needed in order to grow. True growth could never be manufactured within a comfortable environment where success was guaranteed from the outset. They needed to experience life from the perspective of those struggling to survive not from the position of an overwhelming conqueror who faced no genuine obstacles. A sword is not sharpened by cutting through empty air, but by grinding against a whetstone. Likewise, true strength is never discovered in the absence of pressure . it is forged only when something forces it to emerge from the deepest parts of one's soul.
