Sometimes, I really wished that Claudia was a materialistic woman whose aim in dating me was to drain the Gatlin's generational wealth dry.
Though, that was practically impossible.
Back when we first dated, I did a little digging into her background and realized that she was on a full scholarship, which was only possible if you were under extreme poverty.
Then, I realized that she was practically an orphan, since she had cut contact with her family and survived all by herself.
Thus, when we dated, I expected her to ask me for money, or try to manipulate me into giving her a huge sum of money, usually through guilt-tripping.
But she didn't.
Other than me paying for our food whenever we went on a date, she never asked for anything more. Sometimes she even gave me small, meaningless trinkets as gifts, which I kept carefully inside the safe in my work office.
