"Thank you for your advice, Ray. The investment is a success, and everyone in the family is very happy about the outcome," Thomas Paige said as we had just finished our meeting about his multi-million dollar investment.
It was a success, obviously, because everything was according to my calculation, and my calculation was never wrong… or so I thought.
"It's my duty, as you're one of my top clients," I said out of formality. But Thomas patted my back and laughed.
"Why are you acting like we're not friends? Come on, Ray, I know that you're cold to everyone, but surely after attending many events together, you can open up to me a bit, right?" Thomas said. "After all, our family relationship spans from five generations back. That's why the Gatlins have always been the ones managing the Paiges' wealth. Surely that means something to you, right?"
