Ding!
The elevator opened, and as I walked out of it, I bumped into Anok, who had just left the penthouse.
As usual, she had a big smile on her face, as if spending time with Claudia was one of her favorite pastimes now.
"You know you can just tell my grandfather that everything's fine, and you don't have to come to the penthouse every day and tire her out, right?" I suggested as I confronted her. "I saw that you brought her out for lunch again. Make sure to keep her safe, especially from Miles."
Anok rolled her eyes when she saw me. She had only shown her sweeter and less prickly self in front of Claudia.
But in front of me?
She was just a very difficult friend to handle.
"Why are you telling me stuff like this? You know that I'll keep her safe no matter what," Anok said. "Besides, you shouldn't talk about tiring her out after what happened last night."
My heart skipped a beat. It was rare for my heartbeat to race if it wasn't for Claudia.
