Claudia POV
Maybe I wasn't as strong as I thought I was.
I thought that I could hold back my tears and keep my face stiff as the trial went on.
But the moment Miles stared at me with guilt overflowing from his eyes, my heart began to tremble and ache terribly. As he confessed to his crime while his tears flowed freely from the corners of his eyes down to wet his cheeks, the ache in my heart worsened to the point that I began to get a little breathless.
In the end, the tears that had been pooling in my eyes finally fell and wet my cheeks as I stared at him.
Then, Ray moved fast by covering my eyes, making sure that I wouldn't look at Miles anymore.
I knew that he probably wanted to make sure that I wouldn't change my mind and forgive Miles just because Miles cried while confessing.
But that was never the case.
