Chapter 9 – Four Under One Roof

[Scene: Class 2A - Monday Morning, One Week After Exams]
(Results are posted. Students crowd around the board.)
Sui: (squeezing through) "WHERE IS IT?! WHERE IS MY NAME?!"
Yui: (also pushing) "I CAN'T SEE!"
Akari: (calmly standing back) "The crowd will thin eventually."
Kenta: (beside her) "You're not curious?"
Akari: "I know how I did. The number doesn't change that."
Kenta: (nodding) "Efficient thinking."
Akari: (smiling) "I learned from you."
Sui: (screaming) "I PASSED! I PASSED EVERYTHING!"
Yui: (also screaming) "ME TOO! WE DID IT!"
(They tackle Akari and Kenta in a group hug.)
Sui: "AKARI-CHAN! YOU'RE A MIRACLE WORKER!"
Yui: "BEST TUTOR EVER!"
Akari: (laughing) "You did the work. I just helped."
Takahashi Kenji: (appearing) "I PASSED TOO! BARELY! BUT PASSING IS PASSING!"
Kenta: (checking his results) "All perfect scores."
Sui: (staring) "Of course you did."
Yui: "Show-off."
Kenta: (almost smiling) "It's just accuracy."

[Scene: Lunch - Rooftop]
(They eat together. Celebratory mood.)
Sui: "We need to celebrate properly! Sleepover at Kenta-kun's place!"
Yui: "YES! Movies! Snacks! Games!"
Akari: (freezing) "Sleepover?"
Sui: "Yeah! You've never been to one, right?"
Akari: (quietly) "I've never been to any sleepover."
Yui: (grabbing her hand) "FIRST TIME FOR EVERYTHING!"
Akari: (looking at Kenta) "Is that okay? With you?"
Kenta: "My room is big enough now. Four people can fit."
Sui: "SEE? KENTA-KUN APPROVED!"
Akari: (small smile) "Okay. I'll come."

[Scene: Kenta's Expanded Room - Saturday Evening]
(The room is transformed. Blankets everywhere. Snacks on the desk. Four futons laid out in a row.)
Sui: (spinning) "SLEEPOVER MODE: ACTIVATED!"
Yui: (arranging snacks) "We have chips, chocolate, soda, and more chips!"
Akari: (standing by the door, hesitant) "This is... your room."
Kenta: (beside her) "Yes."
Akari: "It feels different at night. Warmer."
Kenta: "That's the company."
Akari: (looking at him) "You think so?"
Kenta: "I know so."
Sui: (dragging them) "COME ON! MOVIE TIME!"

[Scene: Getting Ready for Bed]
Sui: "Okay! Pajama time!"
Akari: (confused) "Pajama time?"
Yui: "We change into sleepwear! It's part of the fun!"
Akari: (panicking) "I... I didn't bring anything..."
Sui: (grinning) "Don't worry! I brought extras!"
(She pulls out a collection of sleepwear. Silky. Revealing. Definitely not what Akari expected.)
Akari: (staring) "These are... very..."
Yui: "Cute? Sexy? Both?"
Akari: (blushing) "I can't wear something like that!"
Sui: "Of course you can! We all will!"
(She holds up options. A silky red camisole with matching shorts. A sheer lace-trimmed nightie. A tiny tank top with booty shorts.)
Akari: (face red) "I... I'll just sleep in my clothes."
Yui: "NO! Sleepover rules! Everyone matches!"
Sui: (pushing her toward the bathroom) "TRY THEM ON! WE'LL WAIT!"
(Akari disappears into the bathroom. Sui and Yui exchange evil grins.)
Sui: (whispering) "Kenta-kun is going to DIE."
Yui: (whispering) "Best sleepover ever!"
(Kenta, at his desk, ears already red, pretends to read.)

[Scene: The Reveal]
(The bathroom door opens. Akari steps out. She chose the red camisole and shorts. Silky. Clinging. The top is loose enough to show a hint of... everything. The shorts ride high on her thighs.)
Akari: (covering herself) "This is... this is too much..."
Sui: (whistling) "HOT DAMN, AKARI-CHAN!"
Yui: (fanning herself) "Kenta-kun, LOOK!"
(Kenta looks. Freezes. His ears turn crimson.)
Kenta: (looking away) "It's... fine."
Akari: (mortified) "Fine?! Just fine?!"
Sui: (laughing) "His ears are SCARLET! He LOVES it!"
Akari: (peeking at him) (small smile) "Really?"
Kenta: (not looking) "It's... appropriate sleepwear."
Yui: "APPROPRIATE?! She looks like a model!"
Sui: (pulling out her own) "MY TURN!"
(She disappears. Returns in a matching black set. Even more revealing. The camisole is practically see-through.)
Sui: (posing) "What do you think, Kenta-kun?!"
Kenta: (looking at the ceiling) "Also... fine."
Yui: (laughing) "He's going to combust!"
(Yui changes too. A soft pink babydoll. Lace. Short. Very short.)
Yui: (twirling) "Ta-da!"
(The three girls stand before him. Silky. Lacy. Bare skin. Long legs. Kenta's brain short-circuits.)
Kenta: (standing) "I need... air."
Sui: (pushing him back) "NO AIR! MOVIE TIME!"
(She shoves him onto his futon. They all pile around him. Akari ends up pressed against his left side. Sui on his right. Yui at his feet.)
Akari: (feeling his warmth) (blushing) "This is... close."
Sui: (grinning) "Sleepover rules!"
Yui: "Maximum closeness!"
Kenta: (between them) "I can't breathe."
Akari: (whispering) "Me neither."

[Scene: Movie Time - Horror Film]
(The movie plays. Creepy music. Jump scares. Shadows.)
Akari: (clutching his arm) (bare legs pressed against his) "AHH!"
Sui: (clutching his other arm) "SO SCARY!"
Yui: (hiding behind his back) "I CAN'T WATCH!"
Kenta: (trapped) "It's just a movie."
(A particularly loud scream. Akari jumps. Ends up half on top of him. Her camisole slips. One strap falls down. Revealing more than intended.)
Akari: (noticing) (face red) "Oh no—"
(She tries to fix it. Struggles. Her body moves against his. Bare skin. Warmth.)
Kenta: (frozen) (ears on fire) "..."
Sui: (watching) (grinning) "Well, well, well."
Yui: (peeking) "Akari-chan is ACCIDENTALLY seducing him!"
Akari: (panicking) "I'M NOT! IT WAS AN ACCIDENT!"
(She finally fixes the strap. But now she's hyperaware of every point of contact. Her thigh against his. Her chest against his arm. His warmth.)
Akari: (thinking) "I can't move. If I move, it'll be worse. But if I stay, I'll die."
Kenta: (hearing her) (whispering) "Stay."
Akari: (gasping) "What?"
Kenta: "Stay. If it helps."
Akari: (quietly) "Okay."
(She stays. Pressed against him. Heart racing. Safe.)

[Scene: After Movie - Snacks and Games]
(The horror movie ends. They're still tangled.)
Sui: (stretching) "Time for games!"
Yui: "Strip poker?"
Akari: (choking) "WHAT?!"
Sui: (laughing) "Kidding! ...Mostly."
Kenta: "Regular poker."
(They play cards. But the damage is done. Every movement reveals more skin. Every reach for chips makes camisoles shift. Kenta tries not to look. Fails. His ears stay red.)
Akari: (winning a hand) "I... I won?"
Sui: "AKARI-CHAN IS A CARD SHARP!"
Akari: (blushing) "I just... calculated probabilities."
Kenta: (impressed) "Good instincts."
Akari: (happy) "Really?"
Kenta: "Really."
Yui: (grinning) "They're bonding over math! In lingerie!"
Akari: (covering face) "Stop saying lingerie!"
Sui: (laughing) "But that's what it is!"

[Scene: Late Night - Truth or Dare]
Sui: "Okay, new game! Truth or Dare!"
Akari: (nervous) "I've never played."
Yui: "Perfect! First time for everything!"
Sui: "Kenta-kun first! Truth or Dare?"
Kenta: "Truth."
Sui: (grinning evilly) "Of the three of us, who do you think looks hottest right now?"
Kenta: (long pause) "I refuse to answer."
Sui: "THAT'S NOT ALLOWED!"
Kenta: "I'm answering by refusing."
Yui: (laughing) "He's too smart for this game!"
Akari: (quietly) "He's blushing though."
Sui: "TRUE! His ears are M AGENTA!"
Kenta: "Next."
Sui: "Akari-chan! Truth or Dare?"
Akari: (panicking) "Um... truth?"
Sui: "Have you ever kissed anyone before?"
Akari: (face exploding) "I—that's—I mean—"
Yui: (gently) "You don't have to answer if it's too much."
Akari: (quietly) "Once. When I was seven. A boy in a sandbox."
(Everyone looks at Kenta.)
Kenta: (ears red) "..."
Sui: (gasps) "THAT WAS KENTA-KUN?!"
Akari: (nodding) "He doesn't remember. But I do."
Kenta: (quietly) "I remember now."
Akari: (eyes widening) "You do?!"
Kenta: "The flower. The kiss. I remember."
Akari: (tearing up) "Kenta-kun..."
Sui: (melting) "THIS IS SO ROMANTIC!"
Yui: (also melting) "CHILDHOOD SWEETHEARTS REUNITED!"
Akari: (wiping eyes) "I can't believe you remember."
Kenta: "I told you. I remember everything."

[Scene: Middle of the Night]
(The game ends. Everyone settles down. But sleep doesn't come easily.)
Akari: (lying beside Kenta) (whispering) "Kenta-kun?"
Kenta: "Hm?"
Akari: "Can I... hold your hand? Just for tonight?"
Kenta: (reaching out) "Okay."
(She takes it. Small. Warm. Perfect.)
Akari: "Thank you. For remembering. For being here."
Kenta: "Thank you for waiting."
Akari: "I would have waited forever."
Kenta: (squeezing) "You don't have to anymore."
(They lie there. Hand in hand. Sui and Yui are asleep, tangled together nearby.)
Akari: (after a long moment) "Kenta-kun?"
Kenta: "What?"
Akari: (rising slightly) "Can I... kiss you? Like before?"
Kenta: (pause) "If you want."
(She leans down. Her camisole gapes. Reveals everything. But she doesn't care. Her lips meet his. Soft. Warm. Lingering.)
Akari: (pulling back) "For ten years of waiting."
Kenta: (touching his lips) "For ten years of remembering."
(She kisses him again. Longer this time.)
Akari: "For today."
Kenta: (kissing back) "For tomorrow."
(They lie down. Still holding hands. Still close.)
Akari: (whispering) "Goodnight, Kenta-kun."
Kenta: "Goodnight, Akari."

[Scene: Morning - The Aftermath]
(Sunlight streams through the window. Four bodies tangled together. Futons abandoned. All in one pile.)
Sui: (waking) "Mmm... morning..."
(She sees the pile. Sees Kenta in the middle. Akari draped across his chest. Yui curled against his side. Herself on top.)
But more importantly—clothes have shifted. Camisoles have slipped. Bare skin everywhere. Akari's top is completely askew, revealing everything. Sui's shorts have ridden up. Yui's babydoll is twisted.
Sui: (grinning) "Best sleepover ever."
Yui: (stirring) "What time is it?"
(She sees the situation. Gasps.)
Yui: "We're... we're all..."
Akari: (also stirring) "Mm... warm..."
(She realizes she's on top of Kenta. Realizes her top is gone. Realizes EVERYTHING.)
Akari: (screaming) "KYAAA—!"
(She scrambles back. Falls off the futon. Tangles in blankets.)
Sui: (laughing) "MORNING!"
Kenta: (awake, staring at ceiling) "Good morning."
Yui: (covering herself) "Did we... did anything happen?!"
Akari: (from the floor) "I DON'T KNOW! I DON'T REMEMBER!"
Kenta: (calmly) "Nothing happened. Just sleeping."
Sui: (pouting) "Just sleeping?"
Kenta: "Just sleeping."
Akari: (peeking over the futon) "Are you sure?!"
Kenta: (looking at her) "I would remember."
Akari: (blushing) "Oh."
Sui: (kissing his cheek) "Good morning kiss!"
Yui: (kissing his other cheek) "Morning kiss number two!"
Akari: (hesitating) (crawling closer) (kissing his cheek) "Morning kiss number three."
Sui: (counting) "NEW RECORD! AND IT'S ONLY 7 AM!"
Kenta: (touching his cheeks) "Let's have breakfast."

[Scene: Breakfast - Cooking Together]
(They crowd the small kitchen. Sui burns toast. Yui perfectly fries eggs. Akari makes tea. Kenta coordinates.)
But they're still in their sleepwear. The movements cause more shifting. More revealing.
Sui: (reaching for a plate) (her shorts ride up) "Oops!"
Yui: (stirring eggs) (her babydoll slips) "Whoops!"
Akari: (pouring tea) (her camisole gapes) "Ah—"
Kenta: (trying not to look) (failing) (ears magenta)
Akari: (noticing) (blushing) "Kenta-kun, you're staring."
Kenta: (looking away) "Observing."
Sui: (laughing) "OBSERVING OUR BODIES!"
Kenta: "That's not—I didn't—"
Yui: (grinning) "He's so cute when he's flustered!"
Akari: (smiling) "I agree."
Kenta: (muttering) "I'm surrounded by chaos."
Sui, Yui, Akari: (in unison) "YOUR chaos!"

[Scene: After Breakfast - The Locket]
Akari: (noticing) "Kenta-kun, what's that?"
Kenta: (touching his locket) "A gift. From Sui and Yui."
Sui: (nodding) "Matching lockets! Three of us!"
Akari: (quietly) "They're beautiful."
Yui: (looking at each other) (nodding)
Sui: "Akari-chan, we have something for you."
Akari: (surprised) "For me?"
Yui: (pulling out a small box) "We got you one too."
Akari: (freezing) "A locket?"
Sui: "So you can carry us with you. Always."
Akari: (opening it) Inside: space for four photos. They've already placed three. Sui. Yui. Kenta.
Akari: (tearing up) "I... I don't know what to say."
Yui: "Say you'll be part of us. Forever."
Akari: (crying) "Yes. Forever."
(She puts it on. Touches it. Warm against her chest. Just above where her camisole gapes.)
Kenta: (watching) "Now we all match."
Akari: (smiling through tears) "Now I'm really one of you."
Sui: (hugging her) "YOU ALWAYS WERE!"
Yui: (joining) "FOUR LOCKETS! FOUR HEARTS!"
Kenta: (quietly) "Four."

[Scene: Afternoon - Getting Dressed]
(They finally change into normal clothes. But the damage is done. Memories seared into Kenta's brain.)
Sui: (stretching) "Best sleepover EVER!"
Yui: "We need to do this every week!"
Akari: (happily) "I'd like that."
Kenta: (relieved to have them clothed) "We'll see."
Akari: (standing at the door) "Thank you. For everything. For the best night of my life."
Sui: (hugging) "Come back anytime!"
Yui: (hugging) "You live here now. In spirit!"
Akari: (laughing) "I'll remember that."
(She looks at Kenta.)
Akari: "Kenta-kun."
Kenta: "Hm?"
Akari: (rising on tiptoes) "For the best sleepover."
(She kisses his cheek. Then another. Then a third.)
Akari: "One for Sui. One for Yui. One for you."
Kenta: (touching his cheek) "I'll add them to the count."
Akari: (grinning) "Good. And for the road..."
(She kisses his lips. Quick. Sweet.)
Akari: "That one's for me."
(She waves. Disappears down the hall.)
Sui: (sighing) "She's really part of us now."
Yui: "The fourth locket."
Kenta: (touching his lips) (touching his locket) "Four."

[Scene: Kenta's Desk - Night]
(Thirty-six items now. He adds a photo from the sleepover. Four of them tangled together, smiling, clothes shifted, barely decent.)
Kenta: (looking at them) "Thirty-six."
(He touches his locket. Their photos inside. Four now. He added Akari's photo today.)
Kenta: (thinking) "Father... we're four now. Really four."
(He picks up the astrolabe.)
Kenta: "She has a locket too. Like us."
(The astrolabe gleams.)

[Scene: Bedtime - Three Together]
Sui: "Kenta-kun... today was perfect."
Yui: "Akari-chan is really family now."
Kenta: "Yes."
Sui: (kissing his cheek) "For Akari."
Yui: (kissing his other cheek) "For four."
Kenta: (kissing both) "For us."
(They sleep. Three together. But the fourth is in their hearts. And around her neck.)
Kenta: (thinking, last thought) "Akari. Sui. Yui. Four hearts. One rhythm. Always."

[Scene: Akari's Apartment - Night]
(Akari lies in bed. Touching her new locket. Still wearing the red camisole.)
Akari: (whispering) "I belong. Really belong."
(She opens it. Looks at their photos. Sui. Yui. Kenta.)
Akari: (smiling) "Four."
(She closes it. Holds it to her chest. Right where his hand accidentally landed yesterday.)
Akari: (thinking) "Father... I found them. I found my place. And maybe... something more."
(She sleeps. Peaceful. For the first time in years.)
