SASHA ROSARIO'S POINT OF VIEW
"Seriously, boss? Why her?"
"Hmmm… She has a good heart. A strong-willed woman—she'll weather whatever comes next."
"Fair enough. What good's a beautiful, sexy, rich woman if she drops dead the moment she steps foot in Russia?"
Blood drained from my face. I squeezed my eyes shut, every muscle in my body locking rigid. I'd been faking sleep to eavesdrop on these idiots and Dallius—and now? Someone's going to die? Assassins waiting for me in Russia?
The three of them laughed. I wanted to smack their heads together, convinced they'd picked this topic just to get under my skin. But I wasn't about to let them win. I let out a loud, exaggerated snore to steal their attention.
"Shit! What a woman!" one of them yelled.
"Watch your mouth, boss."
Dallius chuckled. "What should I use to cover it, though?"
My eyes flew open wide—but I kept my head turned away, so they'd never know I'd heard.
