Chapter 19 - A Rainy Evening

Ben drove back home in his car.

The roads were still slightly wet from the rain, reflecting the city lights as he passed by.

After reaching his apartment, he stepped inside and placed his keys on the table.

Without wasting time, he took out his phone and called Charlotte.

She picked up almost immediately.

Ben:

"Hi, Charlotte."

Her voice came quickly, almost rushed.

Charlotte:

"Hi, Ben… I'll talk to you later. Bye."

Before Ben could say anything more, the call ended.

Ben looked at his phone, confused.

Ben:

"But… okay. Bye."

He slowly lowered his hand.

A small frown appeared on his face.

Ben (thinking):

What's wrong these days? I can't even talk to her properly.

He sighed and leaned back.

I guess she's really busy with her café work…

She must be exhausted.

His expression softened with concern.

I just hope she doesn't forget to take care of herself.

After a while, Ben went to freshen up.

Later, he returned and sat down to study, trying to distract himself.

Luisa's House

At the same time, Luisa was at home.

After studying for a long time, she stretched slightly and stood up from her chair.

She walked toward the window and opened it.

A cool breeze entered the room.

It had started raining again after a few days.

Luisa looked outside.

The rain was falling softly, making everything look calm and peaceful.

Luisa:

"This is so beautiful…"

The city of Himmer looked stunning in the evening.

The street lights reflected on the wet roads, and the sky slowly darkened as night approached.

Luisa smiled softly.

Then suddenly—

Her stomach growled.

Luisa:

"I'm feeling hungry."

She thought for a moment.

Luisa:

"I'm going to make French toast… and maybe some noodles."

She walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge.

Then she froze.

Luisa:

"Oh no… there's no bread."

She sighed.

Luisa:

"I guess I have to go out and buy some."

Luisa quickly wore her jacket and stepped outside.

Downtown

When she reached the nearby shop, it was closed.

Luisa looked disappointed.

Luisa:

"Seriously…?"

She thought for a moment, then decided to go to the downtown area.

She boarded a bus.

The rain slowly began to stop.

Inside the bus, warm yellow lights glowed softly.

Raindrops slid down the glass windows.

Outside, the streets of Himmer shone beautifully under the lights, reflecting the rain like a painting.

Luisa looked outside quietly.

After some time—

Luisa:

"Oh, I'm downtown. I should buy some other things for the house too."

She got off the bus.

By the River

Instead of going directly to the store, Luisa walked along the riverbank.

The air was fresh and cold.

The rain had just stopped, leaving behind a peaceful silence.

The wind blew gently, brushing against her face.

Luisa hugged herself slightly.

Luisa:

"Oh… the air is so cold."

The evening felt calm, almost magical.

The lights from the city reflected on the river, creating a beautiful view.

As she walked slowly, enjoying the moment—

She suddenly noticed someone standing not too far away.

Luisa stopped.

Her eyes focused.

Her heart skipped a beat.

Who is that…?

The figure stood quietly near the river, facing away from her.

For some reason, something about that person felt… familiar.

Luisa took a small step forward.

The wind blew softly again.

And the person slowly turned—
