Chapter: Sleepy Confessions – Part 2
(Keifer's POV)
The bonfire kept crackling in the quiet night, sparks flying up into the dark sky while the forest around us stayed calm and cold.
Everyone from Section E was still sitting around the fire.
Well… almost calm.
Because my girlfriend had already tried to sacrifice Cin to the fire earlier.
And now?
Jay was sleeping on my lap like nothing had ever happened.
Her arms were wrapped around my neck, her face pressed against my chest while she breathed softly. Her hair tickled my chin every time the wind moved.
And I couldn't move.
Not because I didn't want to.
Because if I moved even a little, she would probably wake up and start another disaster.
Across the fire, the boys were still staring at us like they were watching a wild animal documentary.
Cin whispered dramatically to Rory.
"Bro… she chased us with a knife ten minutes ago."
Rory nodded seriously.
"And now she's sleeping like a baby."
Blaster added quietly,
"This is what toxic love looks like."
Josh elbowed him.
"No idiot. This is what Keifer's future looks like."
Everyone laughed.
I rolled my eyes.
"Shut up."
Aries, who was sitting on a log across from me, smirked while staring at Jay.
"I told you earlier," he said lazily, "your girlfriend is dangerous."
I looked down at the girl peacefully sleeping against me.
Her cheeks were slightly red from drinking. Her lips were slightly parted, and she looked so calm that no one would believe she had been chasing people earlier.
Dangerous?
Yeah.
But also… cute.
Too cute.
I carefully moved a strand of hair away from her face.
"She's not dangerous," I muttered.
Cin immediately shouted from behind a tree.
"BRO SHE TRIED TO COOK ME."
Everyone burst out laughing again.
Jay didn't move.
Still sleeping.
Still hugging me.
Still using me as a chair.
Eren crossed his arms.
"So Keif… how long are you planning to sit like that?"
I sighed.
"Until she wakes up."
Mayo shook his head.
"Your legs must be dead."
"They are."
Drew added dramatically,
"Love requires sacrifice."
"Shut up Drew."
The boys laughed again.
For a few minutes everything stayed peaceful.
The fire crackled.
The wind rustled the trees.
People talked quietly.
Then suddenly—
Jay moved.
Everyone froze instantly.
Her fingers tightened around my neck.
Her head shifted slightly against my chest.
And slowly…
Her eyes opened.
Half open.
Sleepy.
Confused.
She blinked slowly like her brain was still loading.
Then she looked up at me.
"…Keif?"
Her voice was soft and sleepy.
My heart immediately melted.
"Yeah, Barracuda," I said quietly. "It's me."
She blinked again.
Still looking confused.
Then suddenly—
She sat up.
Still sitting on my lap.
Everyone around the fire leaned forward instantly like they were watching a live drama.
Jay looked around slowly.
Her sleepy eyes scanned the campfire.
Then she spotted Cin.
And suddenly…
She stood up.
The entire group panicked.
"OH NO."
"RUN!"
Cin screamed immediately.
"NOT AGAIN!"
He jumped up and tried to run but tripped over a rock.
Jay slowly walked toward him.
Her steps were slow and slightly wobbly.
Everyone backed away nervously.
Cin held his hands up like he was surrendering.
"Jay… listen… we are friends… I respect you… please don't throw me into fire again…"
Jay stopped right in front of him.
The whole group went silent.
Cin closed his eyes dramatically.
"I WAS TOO YOUNG."
Jay just stared at him.
For five seconds.
Then…
She yawned.
A big sleepy yawn.
"…Why are you shouting?" she mumbled.
Cin slowly opened one eye.
"You… you're not attacking me?"
Jay blinked lazily.
"No."
Everyone sighed in relief.
Then Jay suddenly turned around and walked back.
Straight toward me.
Cin collapsed to the ground.
"I ALMOST DIED FROM FEAR."
The boys laughed loudly.
Jay returned and stood in front of me.
Her sleepy eyes stared at my face for a moment.
Then without warning—
She grabbed my collar.
Pulled me slightly forward.
And kissed me.
Soft.
Warm.
Slow.
The entire camp exploded.
"AYOOOOOO!"
"BROOOOO!"
"AGAIN?!"
But Jay didn't care.
She pulled away slowly and rested her forehead against mine.
Her eyes were still half closed.
Then she whispered softly—
"I love youuu sooo much…"
Dead silence.
Even the fire crackling sounded loud.
Every single person around the bonfire froze.
Cin's mouth fell open.
Rory grabbed Josh's arm.
Aries stared like he just witnessed something illegal.
Jay smiled sleepily.
Then she climbed back onto my lap.
Wrapped her arms around my neck again.
And dropped her head onto my chest.
Sleeping.
Again.
Just like that.
Like nothing happened.
For a full five seconds nobody spoke.
Then—
Cin screamed.
"BRO SHE CONFESSED AGAIN!"
Rory jumped up.
"THIS IS HISTORY!"
Josh grabbed Blaster's shoulders.
"SHE SAID I LOVE YOU TWICE!"
Eren yelled dramatically.
"KEIFER WON LIFE!"
Aries started laughing loudly.
"Damn Keif… your girlfriend only confesses when she's drunk and sleepy."
I sighed while holding Jay carefully so she wouldn't fall.
Her breathing was already slow again.
Fast asleep.
Like she didn't just cause emotional chaos.
David smirked.
"So what now?"
I looked down at the girl hugging me like I was her teddy bear.
"…Now I stay here."
Mayo asked,
"For how long?"
I shrugged.
"As long as she wants."
Cin pointed at Jay.
"Bro if she wakes up again we are leaving."
Josh nodded seriously.
"Yes."
Blaster agreed.
"I refuse to become barbecue."
The boys kept teasing and laughing around the fire.
But honestly…
I barely heard them.
Because Jay was sleeping peacefully in my arms.
Her arms wrapped tightly around my neck.
Her head resting against my chest.
And quietly…
Almost like a whisper…
She mumbled again in her sleep.
"…love you…"
My heart skipped a beat.
I smiled slightly.
Yeah.
I definitely wasn't moving tonight.
