Chapter: Moving Forward
(Jay's POV)
The morning light spilled into my room, but today it felt different. Calmer. Cleaner. Like the weight I'd been carrying for so long had shifted—just slightly—but enough to notice.
I sat at my desk, a notebook open in front of me, pen in hand. For the first time in what felt like forever, my thoughts weren't consumed by Keifer—his kisses, his lies, the heartbreak. Today, my focus was on me. My goals. My future.
I exhaled slowly, letting the past fall behind me. It wasn't easy. Memories of him—the way he smiled, the way he made me feel like the world revolved around us—still tugged at my heart. But I reminded myself: I deserved better. I deserved clarity. I deserved a life not dictated by someone else's choices.
Percy walked past my room and paused, seeing my serious expression. "Morning, Jay. You look… determined."
I looked up and smiled faintly. "Morning. Yeah… I'm done letting the past control me. Time to focus on school, on myself, and on my future."
He nodded approvingly. "That's my girl. I knew you'd find your strength."
Aries entered behind him, carrying a stack of books. "So… no more thinking about Keifer?" he teased lightly.
I shook my head, chuckling softly. "Nope. He's a chapter closed. I have exams, applications, and a whole life to chase now. That's my priority."
The day went on differently. Each click of my pen, each note I typed on my laptop, felt like building a wall—not to block memories, but to create a space where I could thrive without distractions. I felt lighter, more focused, and even a little proud of myself.
When the afternoon sunlight hit my room just right, I took a deep breath and whispered, mostly to myself, "I can do this. I will do this."
No more heartbreak. No more lingering shadows. Just me, my ambitions, and the promise of a future I would shape on my own.
For the first time in a long time, I felt… free.
