What the hell? Why is he laughing?
Dewan's thoughts spun wildly as he stared at Kallos, his eyes hard and unblinking. The sight of the Alpha's bewilderment only seemed to fuel the fire, making Kallos laugh harder.
That made Nevaeh stir.
Her head shifted slightly on the pillow, her eyes fluttering open. At first, her gaze drifted blankly across the white ceiling, unfocused. Then she noticed the figures around her.
Strangers? Three new faces, and it seemed like Dewan was trying to stop them from reaching her. The initial confusion in her eyes quickly turned into fear. She pulled the thin blanket up to her chest, clutching it tightly as she wondered if these strangers had been sent by the Vicious Fangs to get her, even though she was sure she had never seen them before in the pack.
"Great, now we're scaring her," Hecate muttered under his breath.
