Falion showed some things to Marcus, and Marcus listened and trained as much as he could; he knew that such a class was really valuable.
Especially from a master-level mage.
After feeling the brunt of the power of Falion, he better understood where he lacked and where he needed to improve.
After the simple and basic training was over, Falion came to his side and smiled.
"Now."
"Do you understand what I mean by the fact that you have a problem in terms of understanding how magic works?"
Marcus nodded and smiled.
"Clearly."
Falion then spoke.
For novice-level spells, the price is set to ten septims.
"For apprentice-level spells it is about thirty, and adept-level spells are fifty septims."
Marcus thought and nodded.
It was easy to see that most of the spells were cheaper than one would expect.
But it was expected.
In the end, compared to the game, he can see that in this real life and in the lore.
People who have enough talent and potential to cast magic are pretty rare. For such a rare profession, the spells do not need to be very valuable, as they are only valuable to one who needs them, and it is not every day a trader encounters an aspiring mage, and high enough mages have friends they can get spells from.
Not to mention any spell that can be bought from a trader most likely is not that big of a spell and can be found by any talented and experienced mage.
Marcus then said.
"First."
"I would like to buy, Burden."
"I would like to also buy Stoneflesh."
"It would also be great to have Lesser Ward understand the theories behind it."
Falion nodded.
"Great choices, balanced and not arrogant."
"The total is 60 septims."
"I cut off ten septims because you seem to be a great young man."
Marcus smiled and nodded.
The duo went back to Morthal, and Marcus paid the sixty septims to Falion and took the three spells.
Falion also added.
"Do not forget."
"If you want more training, it will be expensive."
"For one day of training, about six to ten hours of my time, you should be ready to pay three hundred septims."
"Because you seem to be a great young man and have great potential, I can also sell my hours to you, twenty septim per hour, or three hours of training for fifty septim."
Marcus nodded and gulped.
"It is expensive."
It was expensive but also to be expected.
In the end, Falion is similar to Tolfdir in terms of magic experience and level.
Mages like him are pretty rare, and it is only to be expected that their class would be expensive.
After some talk later, Marcus went back to his room.
After paying for the spells, he had around one hundred and seventy septims.
Which is not bad but not great for a mage that would like to learn more.
"I can make deals and keep on brewing potions if I need to."
"Right now."
"I should be focusing on my studies."
Marcus thought and then opened one of the spells.
He first wanted to learn "Burden"; he experienced the spell on himself.
He wanted to understand how it worked and how it was cast.
Compared to Flames, the spell was more of a mental concentration spell.
As long as he targets somebody and he can use the spell on them, the target will feel like they carry something heavy.
How heavy depended on the magicka put into the spell.
"It is basically a spell that turns one's magicka into the power of gravity on the target."
"By consuming Magicka, one can power it up, can make it last longer, or, in the weaker targets, can kill the target outright."
Marcus kept on reading the spell and also made sure what he remembered was right.
In a sense, he kept on comparing what he felt and how the spell worked.
"Falion said that he used one hundred Magicka on me when he used Burden."
"If I am not wrong, that one hundred Magicka powered by his use of magicka and control of magic felt like about one hundred fifty to two hundred kg of force on my body."
"If I make a comparison..."
Marcus then said.
"My, 100 magicka uses of Burden would be around 100 kg of force..."
Marcus then kept on reading about spells and kept on learning.
After about seven hours later, he nodded.
"Great..."
"There are two stages to the spell."
"The first one decides how much Magicka to use for the first cast spell."
"Then one decides how much magic they want to keep using to keep the spell active."
"A targeted spell stage then concentrates..."
"If I were to cast fifty magicka burdens on a target and then continue to power up by five magicka points, the spell will remain active and will push the power of fifty magicka."
"According to what I know about the spell, it says that at least 10% of the first used magicka needs to be constantly powering up the spell to keep the effect the same."
Marcus let out a deep breath and left his room to calm his nerves and rest a little bit.
In a sense, he felt that he should be able to use the spell at this point.
But now that his understanding of magic increased, he did not rush it.
He focused on learning the theories behind of it
