Cherreads

Chapter 40 - Struck Wedding

'Something is about to happen,' Nathan thought.

"Now we proceed with the coronation," Sara said, and reached out to grab the grimoire she had handed to one of the guards earlier.

Just when the applause and cheers were about to die down. Two men got up from opposite sides of the seating arrangement.

They simultaneously fired bolts of lightning at Corvus. He immediately fell to his knees. Rowena was about to attack when a lightning bolt from a third perpetrator struck her.

She shivered as she fell to her knees, after a while she passed out.

Corvus groaned as he tried to get back on his feet. The two put out their other hand and a second streak of lightning beamed at Corvus.

The attendees scattered, tripping over chairs as they ran. Little streaks of rogue lightning struck some.

Sparks of lightning flew across the sky disappearing af fast as they were created. Corvus managed to get up and with a wave of a hand, he sent the streaks of lightning across the sky.

Immediately, the clouds darkened and drifted closer to each other. All the while Nathan weaved through the crowd like a quarterback.

Soon it started to rain. The guards pounced on them restraining them.

He got to the elevator and Sara and a few others were already inside. He hesitated before joining them.

Nathan looked at the buttons and noticed only two had been pressed. The lobby and the basement buttons.

When the door opened at the Lobby, a group rushed out.

"What the hell is going on?" Mazikean yelled just as she saw Sara and Nathan in the elevator.

She charged at them but the door closed before she could get in. She hurried to the stairway and ran to the rooftop.

She got there everyone was out cold on the floor. Except for Corvus and the three intruders.

Corvus was on his knees with lightning coiled around him. He gnashed as lightning coursed through him.

When Mazikean walked out she hesitated before creating three gravity fields simultaneously.

The pressure brought the men to their knees. Corvus got up and made a fist. Immediately, the person on his right head popped.

"Who sent you?"

Corvus asked but before the person on the left could answer. He closed his fist and his head also exploded.

"You are supposed to give them time to answer the question," Mazikean said.

The only one of the three left watched as the rain washed away the blood of his comrades.

"What are you waiting for? Answer the question," she said to the man.

"I think he wants to talk, ease up a bit," Corvus said to Mazikean.

"Oh my bad," she said and reduced the intensity of the gravitational force.

"Amadeus," the man said.
