Chapter 41 - 1001 Caskets

The elevator doors opened and Sara and Nathan walked out. They looked around and there was no one.

Nathan moved from car to car.

"What are you doing?" Sara asked.

"Looking for a car I can hot wire," he replied.

Sara stared at him.

"What?" Nathan asked.

"You really don't remember me?" Sara asked with a frown.

"No, have we met?" he asked.

Sara shook her head and stuck her hand down her throat. She gagged a couple of times, then a stream of semi digested foods shot right out of her.

Nathan planted his face in his elbow to mask the smell. Sara fished in the vomit for the key.

"Yes, got it. We could get out of here if only this key would work," Sara said then tried to read the inscription on the key.

As Nathan was looking for a car he saw caskets on the floor. He opened one and what he saw made him scream.

"What, what happened," Sara asked and ran to him.

"Oh yeah, the ceremony is supposed to be held at a cemetery. So he made one, sick right?" Sara said then noticed Nathan was sobbing.

"That's our housekeeper. Miss Tamara, …Arama," Nathan said.

"You can't even remember her name, how are you crying right now?" Sara said shaking her head.

"I had hoped Clayton would still be alive somewhere. Seeing my help her means he might be among them.

Nathan saw three more caskets but he did not recognize the people inside. The fourth one he opened was Felix.

Nathan sat on the floor by the casket and grabbed his hand. It was cold, and he was dressed in a nice black tuxedo. Even with the makeup, it was obvious he was dead.

"Makeup, he would so hate this," Nathan said and chuckled. He struggled to swallow as his throat dried.

"I can't believe I was ever angry with you. I don't even remember why we were even fighting," Nathan said as tears rolled down his cheeks.

"We have to go. They may find us any minute," Sara cautioned.

"I need to look for Clayton," Nathan said. He got up and opened more caskets.

"These are hunters. So this is what became of them," Nathan said.

"That's enough we need to go," Sara said and smashed the glass of a car. A beeping sound echoed through the car park.

Nathan ran to the car and ripped the cover underneath the steering wheel. He pulled a bunch of wires stripped them, and touched a couple against each other.

The car roared to life and Nathan ran out of the car. He grabbed Felix's body from the casket and carried it to the car.

"What are you doing? We need to leave," Sara yelled at him.

He put Felix in the back seat and quickly got back in the driver's seat.

"I am not letting Felix get some demonic burial," Nathan said and the rear tiers moved but the car stood still.

The smell of burnt rubber filled the air. They sped through the carpark leaving only smoke behind.

As they neared the exit. Mazikean fell from the sky and landed in front of them without bending a knee.

Nathan did not hesitate, he floored the gas pedal and ran her over.
