Chapter 47 - A deal to be made

The hellhound grabbed Gilbert's leg as he was being dragged away. Nathan dived and caught his hand. He held on as he was being dragged along.

He managed to get on his feet but the hellhound kept dragging. Swaying him from side to side. Gilbert screamed as he cried for help.

Sara got out to see the source of the commotion. She ran and wrapped her hands around Nathan's waist and pulled.

All the while Sean and his mother cried as they watched.

Gilbert screamed as the hound bit down on his leg. The sound of cracking bones rang out. Gilbert's mother screamed and turned away from the gore.

As they pulled, strands of muscle started to come apart.

The moment Gilbert was separated from his leg. Sara and Nathan fell into the grass with Gilbert.

Blood from his bleeding leg seeped into the soil. Gilbert cried as he held on to what was left of his leg.

"I need something to wrap the wound," Nathan yelled.

Gilbert's mother took off her scarf and handed it to him. Nathan wrapped the wound and Gilbert's mother helped him carry him inside.

Nathan looked at the kids and noticed that a few had started crying. He asked Gilbert's mother to take the rest of the kids into another room.

She nodded but hesitated as she walked away from Gilbert.

"They are hellhounds, there is a devil's bargain in the contract of the game," Nathan explained.

"I have heard of a demon who offers similar deals," Sara said.

"Can we summon him?" Nathan pulled Sara aside and asked.

"She is actually a her," Sara replied.

"Fine, how do we reach her?" Nathan asked.

"We will need a picture of the person seeking to make the deal, graveyard dirt, and bones of a black cat," Sara instructed.

"A picture, who takes pictures on film in this day and age?" Nathan asked and rolled his eyes.

Sara looked at him and shook her head. They went to look for the items they would need. Nathan went to the cemetery for the graveyard.

Hours later, Nathan returned with the graveyard dirt.

Nathan touched his cheek and pointed at Sara. She wiped a red smudge off her cheek.

She handed Nathan a piece of cloth. Nathan opened it, and inside were bones.

"What is this?" Nathan asked.

"Bones of a black cat," Sara said, and Nathan was left with his mouth partially open.

They both went to town for Nathan to have his picture taken. When everything was ready, they buried all at a crossroad.

After five minutes Nathan asked, "How long does it take?"

"I don't know, it takes as long as it takes," Sara replied.

Nathan squatted at the side of the road for five more minutes.

"I don't think it's working," Nathan said and got up. He was about to leave when a beautiful woman with red eyes walked over to him.

"Nathan Payne, I didn't mean to make you wait," The red eye demon said.

"You know who I am?" Nathan asked.

"Yes, of course. You and every other Payne," the demon said.

"Since you already know my name. Can I know yours?" Nathan asked.

"You can call me Amara. How can I help you?" the demon said as she walked around Sara.

"We are looking for a demon who made a deal in a game, Argart Aporia," Nathan explained.

"Aarh, I did not make that deal personally. The whole digital deals are a management thing," Amara explained.

"Give me a name," Nathan insisted.

"I can't do that, but what I can do is bring your dad back. Or even bring back Felix," Amara said.

Nathan did not say a word, he imagined what it would be like.
