(BLUE'S POV)
Mason was covered in bandages.
Just then I realized, Liam was covered in bandages too.
Lisa and Helen—both of them—were also wrapped in layers of white cloth, their arms, legs, and necks wrapped tightly in medical gauze.
But that was not what made my blood run cold.
It was the glow.
Even through the bandages, even through the layers of cloth and padding, I could see it. A soft, radiant light pulsed beneath Mason's skin—from his hands, his legs, his neck. It was faint but unmistakable, a golden luminescence that seemed to beat in rhythm with his heart.
Liam had it too.
Lisa and Helen didn't.
Only Mason and Liam were glowing.
"What..." My voice came out as a croak. "What happened?"
Mason reached for me, his hand brushing against my arm.
"Blue, don't freak out—"
