(MASON'S POV)
The moment Beau pointed at that decrepit, rotting warehouse, something primal and desperate ignited within me. Every fiber of my being screamed to move, to run, to burst through those boarded-up doors and find Blue, to wrap my arms around him and never let go.
I took a step forward.
But I never made it to the door.
A blur of motion—faster than anything I'd ever seen—slammed into me from the side. Strong arms wrapped around my waist and shoulders, and suddenly the ground was falling away beneath my feet. The world became a dizzying whirlwind of trees, branches, and dappled sunlight as whoever had grabbed me hauled me into the forest at a speed that made my head spin.
I clutched Beau tighter, pressing him against my chest, shielding him with my body. My heart was pounding so hard I could hear it in my ears. Rage and fear warred within me, each vying for dominance.
