(BLUE'S POV)
The growl that tore from my throat was animalistic, primal, completely inhuman. I felt Mason tense in my arms, felt his heart rate spike with alarm, but I couldn't control myself. The fog was too thick, the instinct too strong. All I could see was threats, all I could feel was danger, all I could do was protect.
Haelorian's voice cut through the chaos, calm and measured, like a balm on a raw wound.
"Liam, step back. Give him space."
"But—"
"He will not hurt Mason," Haelorian said firmly. "That I can promise you. The bond between them is too strong, too sacred. Even in the depths of bloodlust, Blue would never harm his mate."
Liam hesitated, his eyes darting between me and Mason. Finally, with visible reluctance, he stepped back, allowing Dylan and Roland to pull him away from me.
I watched them go, my muscles still tense, my heart still racing. Mason's hand found mine, squeezing gently.
"It's okay, Blue," he whispered. "They're not going to hurt us. I promise."
