(MASON'S POV)
"Mason," Blue called softly.
"Mmm?" I murmured, my eyes still closed, basking in the warmth of his body pressed against mine.
"There's something else I need to confess to you."
My heart sank.
It was like ice water being poured directly into my veins. One moment, I was floating on a cloud of pure bliss, wrapped in the arms of the man I loved more than life itself. The next, I was plummeting back to earth, my stomach twisting with dread.
My heart started pounding fast in my chest — a frantic, panicked rhythm that I couldn't control. What else could he possibly need to confess? What dark secret was he hiding? Had he done something terrible? Had he hurt someone? Do we need to hide a body? Had he—
"Mason." Blue's voice cut through my spiral of fear, soft and concerned. "Mason, please. I can hear your heart racing."
I swallowed hard.
