I laughed dryly.
"Nothing you can do? Come on, be honest with yourself. You grabbed her and only her because she's the only one you care about. In your heart, I am nothing, while she is everything to you. So of course in that moment, all you can think of is to save her and leave your wife to die."
He kept quiet. Of course he did. What else could he say?
I sighed, shaking my head.
"I don't want to talk to you. Just leave me alone."
Alexander kept quiet. He simply sat by the bed and looked at me, as though he was trying to understand what was going on in my mind. Then, after sitting in silence for a short while, he finally stood up and headed to the door.
He was about to leave the room when I suddenly called out.
"Alexander."
He turned around. "Do you need anything?"
I stayed quiet for a moment before speaking again.
"I want to resign after the brand endorsement."
His expression immediately darkened.
"Why?" he asked.
