Chapter 58 - Friend

Raze's Point of View

Dad. Samantha. We're so close. I won't stop until the people responsible pay in the most brutal way possible. They'll rot in prison for every single thing they did.

I opened fire on the men heading our way. Watching Ace and Zein talk reminded me so much of my own past—a past I should probably bury—but I couldn't help but smile.

"Zein, you need to rest," Ace insisted.

"No! I'm not leaving without you!" she shot back. "You're wounded too!"

I chuckled. "Hey, don't end up killing each other right there!" I joked. Zein arched an eyebrow, and my brother gave me a death glare. I cleared my throat and went back to shooting.

I remembered the kiss I gave Zein earlier. Even if it was just the corner of her lips, Ace would kill me if he knew. I thought I could trick her into thinking I was him, but she didn't buy it for a second. She knows him too well.

I'm happy for him. Ace became so withdrawn after our father's murder. He stopped trusting everyone, but because of this girl, he can actually smile again.

"You need medical attention fast," Ace said with authority.

I smirked, stepping in. "Ace is right. Let me do you a favor, Zein—I'll be the one to take you."

"No need. I've got her," Ace snapped.

"I'll do it since you clearly don't want to."

"Big bro!"

"Okay, okay, you win..." I laughed as he led her away. I miss you, Sam.

Zein's Point of View

I wasn't about to let Ace out of my sight.

"You shouldn't get too close to that jerk," Supremo muttered as we walked.

"How can you call your own brother a jerk?" I laughed. "Are you jealous?"

"And so what? I have that right." He turned my face to his. "Did what I say make you blush?"

"Yeah, it did," I admitted, embarrassed.

Nicky met us halfway, gun in hand and panting. Surprisingly, she started helping me walk too.

"You did it, Supremo," she said.

"We did it," he corrected.

Nicky looked at my confused face. "I'm sorry for going too far before, Zein. We just wanted to save Supremo's position."

"Why was it such a big deal?" I asked.

"Because of the Dark Hell Jail."

I swallowed hard.

"If Ace steps down, the headmistress might find out the truth. The jail is actually a tunnel that connects Hell University to the outside world. It's how we communicate with the police. The students sent there don't die—they escape."

Everything clicked. Ferry being alive, the "eyes" I felt in the tunnel... Ace and Lux were the masterminds.

"We lost an important member, though," Nicky added, her voice full of rage. "The person who kept the secret formula for a long time. Celine."

My jaw dropped. Celine?

"They tried to frame the Black Blood Gang for it. Pathetic."

Suddenly, gunshots rang out. The men surrounding us dropped. Roxane and Sir Alvarez appeared.

"We're here to escort you to the medical team," Sir Alvarez said with a smile.

Roxane shoved Nicky aside to help me. "So annoying! He wasn't Raze after all!" she pouted at Supremo before turning to me. "I want you to be my friend. I saved your life, remember? I killed the person who drew your name during Bloody Week."

I realized how much I had missed while my eyes were supposedly "open."

As we walked, the sky darkened with the threat of rain.

"Wait. Is this the right way?" Nicky asked.

"It's safer this way," Sir Alvarez explained.

He accidentally dropped a photo, snatched it up quickly, and tucked it away with a smile. Supremo's grip on my hand tightened.

"It's all right," he whispered.

No. Clearly, it isn't.
