Chapter 59 - Forever

Matt's Point of View

We won. Between our numbers and the police backup, Madame Violet's men didn't stand a chance. Now, we were all standing there, staring at the only woman left holding a gun.

"You're all alone," Raze said, his voice heavy with authority.

"You're wrong," she snapped. "I still have my son. He's coming!"

I sighed, the image of Liam's lifeless body flashing through my mind. She'd completely lost it. She hadn't even realized she was the one who killed him.

"Liam is gone," Nazzer said, shaking his head. "You killed him."

Madame Violet shrieked, swinging her gun toward Nazzer as tears streamed down her face.

"Enough, my love," Francisco pleaded from his handcuffs. "Too many people have been hurt for this ambition. We lost. Let's just accept it."

Madame Violet froze as the rain began to pour. "If I surrender... will my son forgive me?"

"No," Raze answered coldly. "Because he never held a grudge. He loved you."

She went still, then broke into a chilling laugh. "It's not over yet! Did you really think I was your main enemy?"

Suddenly, figures in gold masks surrounded us.

"Gold masks?" Angel whispered. "There are no gold masks in this university."

A masked figure blocked our path to Zein. "Let Boss get what he wants."

"Get out of the way," Raze threatened, "or I'll blow your brains out. My brother needs me."

We all lined up—Jerome, Dave, Vanessa, and Mia. We made a promise to Zein. We're in this together.

Zein's Point of View

The path felt eternal. My knees were shaking, and the air felt heavy with dread. Suddenly, Supremo, Nicky, and Roxane stopped.

"We didn't realize there was still a traitor among us," Roxane announced.

Sir Alvarez slowly turned around with a smirk. Shivers went down my spine. This was the man I trusted before I ever trusted Ace.

"I really am a secret agent," he laughed. "I used you to find the secret formula. Which, as it turns out... is you."

"You killed Celine!" I screamed.

"We had to," he replied casually. "She saw a gold mask. It was her fault for going back into the woods."

Nicky tried to fire, but a masked man shot first, hitting her arm. She dropped her gun and was swarmed.

"Just come here, Zein," Sir Alvarez invited. "I promise no one else gets hurt."

"Trusting you was enough of a mistake," I spat.

Roxane stepped in front of me, firing until she was hit in both legs and collapsed.

"Why are you doing this?" Supremo demanded.

Sir Alvarez pulled out a wrinkled photo of a little girl. "This is my daughter. I need Zein so we can be together again."

He was obsessed with the formula's power to bring back the dead.

"Even if she comes back, she'll hate you for this!" I yelled.

Alvarez aimed at me, but Supremo lunged to shield me. A bullet hit his shoulder, then another hit his arm.

"I-I'm good," he whispered.

"Supremo... can I ask one last favor?" I sobbed. "When we're out of this hell, sing for me."

Third Person Point of View

Supremo stood as a human shield.

"Giving her up would be like killing myself," he told Alvarez.

"Then I'll just kill Zein," Alvarez smirked. "We can use her blood even if she's dead."

"Shoot her even once, and I'll make sure your entire generation ends here."

A woman in a black blazer stepped from the trees. It was Allison Shion.

"Allison?" Alvarez trembled. He knew her—the woman who had been the top field agent, the one his daughter Shanne had resented.

"I didn't kill Shanne," Allison said calmly. "Her own jealousy killed her."

"I'll kill your sister as payment!" Alvarez screamed.

"If you hurt my sister," Allison warned, straightening up, "I will empty every bullet into your body."

Zein's Point of View

I was so happy to see Allison, but Supremo was covered in blood.

"We need to get you help," I pleaded.

We tried to move, but Sir Alvarez blocked us. "I'll just kill you both."

He aimed at me, and Supremo lunged into a hug just as the gun fired. The world stopped. Supremo smiled at me, blood trickling from his mouth. Then, he started singing. He sang for me, right there in the mud and the rain, fulfilling my wish in the most heartbreaking way possible.

Another shot rang out. His hug loosened.

"Darling, I love you... forever," he whispered before falling lifeless to the ground.

I was paralyzed. Numb. Sir Alvarez lay nearby, shot by Raze, but I didn't care. I walked toward Mr. Razon.

"Use me. Bring Supremo back," I said.

"Zein, you might not survive—"

"I don't care! Drain every drop of blood if you have to! Just save him!"

The last thing I remember is the sharp pain of the incubator and a glimpse of Supremo in the next cubicle.

I smiled.

"Darling... I love you too... forever."
