Months passed by , our family got closer especially me and keifer
We survived the darkest days supporting each other
But today , it seems different
" we need to talk" said keifer s father
The laughter in the room faded instantly,Celestine froze beside Adrian. My chest tightened
" Why does this sound serious?"I tried to joke
" did something happen ?"
No one answer
My father frowned " what's going on?"
Keifer's father stepped forward. Expression cold
" this engagement shouldn't happen"
Celestine hand froze over
Adrian's "what " she whispered
Adrian didn't answer
My mother's face tightened " Explain"
Keifer's uncle ( Kian) laughed ." Maybe we should stop pretending "
I blinked ...." pretending?"
"Explain" my father said sharply
Keifer's father stepped forward
" we only got close to your family for a reason"
" and what is that reason?" I asked
" Revenge"
I laughed softly , disbelief choking Me
" Revenge?this has to be a joke"
No one laughed
" this isn't funny" I whispered
My eyes landed on keifer
" keifer" I said my voice trembling " tell them to stop "

" keifer?"
Finally he looked up. His eyes ....cold , empty

" because it was never real " he replied

I gestured everyone " all of this ? The dinners , the celebrations and the nights our families spent together?"
" yes"
" and the engagement?"I asked eyes on Celestine and Adrian
Celestine eyes searched for Adrian
" Adrian?"
" it shouldn't Happened " he replied firmly
Celestine s fingers trembled as she slowly took off the ring.
I watched . Heart thudding painfully
" if this was fake " she whispered " then take it back "
Adrian took it slowly, no words just silent
I turned to keifer
" and us ?"
" so all the nights we've gone together ?"
" the times I've trusted you?"
" dating me was Revenge?"
" You really think anyone could date someone like you?"He asked
The words hit me like a punch.my knees felt weak
" your fragile, you hold onto people who don't even care. And you actually believed I did?" He said with a bitter laugh
I felt my hands shake . My chest burning
" And you really think you mattered to us? Never "
I couldn't breath. My heart was shattered into peaces
I couldn't stand there anymore
I turned away " let's go " I said to My family
No one stopped us
By the time we reached home . I barely remember
Walking inside
I sank to the floor,pulling my knees to my chest
My hands shook . Tears ran freely
My chest ached like someone was squeezing it from inside
How could he do this? How could he use me and my family ?
Anger joined the heartbreak
I hate him , I hate them for doing it
The way he said , how could someone love you?
My mother knocked slowly , she came in with papa, Celestine and Percy
" jay?..." mama whispered
" they lied to us " papa shouted " how dare they use us like that ?"
Celestine's voice trembled " I can't believe it , Adrian how could he"
I shook my head again
" they never cared , but we did"
By the time my tears slowed . My father said something
" they can rot in their own lies " father said
" we've wasted enough time on people who never cared "
Celestine lifted her chin
" I'm going to stop thinking about Adrian. I'm going to focus on fashion designing"
Percy's jaw tightened " and I'm taking full control on the company , no distractions, no games . They will never get to use us again "
I looked up at my mom . " jay focus on your studies. Make yourself stronger.dont let them steal your peace and time"
I nodded " I will, I have to"
For the first time since the betrayal. I felt a small spark inside me - determination
They betrayed us , yes
