Chapter 44 - wedding planning and choas

Chapter: Wedding Plans (Jay's POV)

The living room was louder than usual.

Papers were everywhere, my mom was talking about flowers, and Celestine looked half excited, half overwhelmed.

"I can't believe this is actually happening," Celestine laughed nervously.

Adrian squeezed her hand. "Too late to run now."

Everyone laughed.

Then my mom suddenly turned to me.

"Jay, you'll be Celestine's maid of honor."

My eyes widened. "Me?"

"Of course you," Celestine said, smiling. "Who else would I trust with this chaos?"

Before I could answer, Adrian looked over at Keifer.

"And you," he said, pointing at him, "are my best man."

Keifer leaned back in his chair, smirking slightly.

"Guess that means we're working together," he said, glancing at me.

My heart did that annoying little flip again.

Because if he was the best man…

And I was the maid of honor…

That meant we'd be stuck together for every single wedding plan.

And somehow… I had a feeling this was going to be dangerous.

"Well," he said lazily, glancing at me, "looks like we're partners in crime."

I rolled my eyes. "Don't get excited."

"Oh I am," he replied. "Because now I get to see your dress before everyone else."

Celestine immediately gasped.

"Absolutely not!"

Mom nodded firmly. "The dresses are a surprise."

I crossed my arms proudly.

"Exactly. No one from the groom's side is allowed to see them."

Keifer leaned forward slightly, resting his elbows on his knees, eyes glinting with mischief.

"Challenge accepted."

I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Don't even try."

He smirked.

" don't worry wifey "

Adrian laughed from the couch. "Good luck, man. Jay's stubborn."

Keifer's gaze shifted back to me, playful but confident.

"We'll see about that."

And suddenly the wedding planning felt a lot more interesting.

( Jay's pov ) the dinning table

Wedding planning sounded simple.

But with keifer

It was not.

The dining table was covered with notebooks, flower catalogs, color samples, and a giant list Celestine had written.

And somehow… Keifer and I ended up in charge of half of it.

"Why are there so many flowers?" I muttered, flipping through a magazine.

"Because apparently people care about things like that," Keifer replied lazily from across the table.

I looked up. "You're the best man. You're supposed to help."

"I am helping," he said, spinning the pen between his fingers. "I'm supervising."

"Supervising?" I scoffed.

He grinned. "Yes. Very important job."

I threw a flower sample at him.

He caught it easily,

laughing.

From the couch, Keigan snorted. "You two are the worst wedding planners ever."

Keifer leaned back in his chair. "Excuse me, I have excellent taste."

"Oh really?" I said. "Then pick the centerpieces."

He looked at the pictures for two seconds.

"This one."

"That's a candle."

"Exactly. Simple."

I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't stop smiling.

A few minutes later, I stood up to grab another notebook.

Suddenly Keifer grabbed the paper in front of me.

"Hey—give that back!"

"Relax," he said, holding it above his head.

"You're impossible!" I tried reaching for it.

He stood up too, now way taller than me, smirking.

"Short people problems."

"Keifer!"

Keigan and Keiran were laughing so hard from the couch they could barely breathe.

"Best man vs maid of honor!" Keiran shouted.

Finally Keifer sighed dramatically and handed the paper back.

"Fine. But only because you asked nicely."

"I didn't ask nicely."

He leaned closer, voice quieter now.

"Yeah… but you could."

My cheeks warmed instantly.

I shoved the notebook against his chest.

"Just help with the wedding plans."

He chuckled softly.

"Alright, partner."

And somehow… wedding planning didn't feel like work anymore.

Especially with this idiot around

Dance Practice (Jay's POV)

The living room had been cleared out.

Furniture pushed to the walls, music playing softly from someone's phone.

Celestine stood in the middle with a clipboard like she was directing a movie.

"Okay," she announced.

"We're practicing the wedding entrance."

Adrian groaned. "Already?"

"Yes, already," Celestine said firmly. "And Jay, you walk with Keifer."

Keifer looked way too pleased about that.

"Of course we do," he said, standing up.

I rolled my eyes but followed him to the middle of the room.

Celestine clapped her hands. "Best man holds the maid of honor like this."

Before I could react, Keifer's hand slid around my waist.

My brain immediately stopped working.

"Keifer," I whispered, trying to sound calm.

"Yes?" he said innocently.

"You're enjoying this too much."

"Maybe."

From the couch, Keigan laughed. "Jay is already blushing!"

"I am not!" I protested.

"Okay!" Celestine said. "Now walk slowly like you're entering the reception."

The music started again.

Keifer guided me forward, our steps slow.

"You're stepping on my foot," I muttered.

"You're walking too fast."

"No, I'm not!"

Suddenly I tripped slightly.

Before I could fall, Keifer pulled me closer to steady me.

Now we were very close.

His hand still on my waist.

My heart beating way too fast.

"You okay?" he murmured quietly.

"I'm fine," I said quickly,

trying to step back.

But he didn't move right away.

Keiran whistled from the couch. "Wow. Look at them."

"Focus!" Celestine shouted, though she was smiling too.

Keifer finally released me, but he leaned closer and whispered,

"You're going to survive this wedding, right?"

I tried to hide my smile.

"Only if you stop making it harder."

He grinned.

"No promises."
