Chapter 43 - Letting it out

Mine (Jay's POV)

The next morning felt strange.

Nothing around us had changed—the café buzzed with the usual noise, cups clinking, people talking—but everything between Keifer and me had.

We stood close, closer than before. His shoulder brushed mine once, then again, like it was the most natural thing in the world.

And somehow… it felt right

.

My heart still wouldn't calm down.

Then Noel walked in.

I noticed him the moment the door opened. My stomach tightened immediately.

He spotted me and walked straight over.

"Morning," he said casually, stopping beside me.

Too close.

I felt Keifer stiffen next to me.

"I was looking for you yesterday," Noel continued, leaning slightly toward me.

"You disappeared."

"I just had something to do," I replied quietly.

Noel shrugged. "You could've told me. I would've walked you home."

Before I could answer, Keifer suddenly moved.

His hand wrapped around mine, firm and warm, pulling me slightly toward him.

"Back off."

The words were low, sharp.

Noel frowned. "What?"

Keifer's grip tightened around my hand.

"I said stop standing so close to her."

People nearby had started turning to look. The room slowly grew quieter.

Noel looked confused.

"Since when do you get to decide that?"

For a moment, Keifer didn't say anything.

Then I felt his arm slide around my waist.

And my heart jumped.

"Since she's with me."

His voice was loud enough that everyone around us heard it.

The café went silent.

Noel blinked. "What?"

Keifer didn't hesitate.

"Jay and I are together," he said clearly.

A wave of whispers spread across the room instantly.

My face burned, my heart racing as his arm stayed around me.

Possessive.

Protective.

Certain.

He glanced down at me briefly, the anger in his eyes softening just a little.

But he didn't move away.

Instead he looked back at Noel.

"Now you know."

And judging by the whispers around us…

Everyone else knew too.

The Teasing Begins (Jay's POV)

If I thought the café reveal was embarrassing…

I had no idea what was waiting for me at home.

The moment Keifer and I walked into the living room together, I felt it — the silence. The kind of silence that meant everyone had already noticed something.

Celestine was the first one to react.

She slowly looked from me… to Keifer… then back to me again.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Oh."

That one word made my stomach drop.

Percy looked up from the couch immediately.

"What?"

Celestine crossed her arms and leaned back like she had just solved a mystery.

"Nothing," she said slowly. "Just interesting how Jay suddenly walked in with Keifer."

My heart started beating faster.

Keifer beside me muttered under his breath, "Here we go."

Percy blinked a few times… then his eyes widened.

"WAIT."

Oh no.

I repeat

Oh no

"ARE YOU TWO DATING?!"

My face burned instantly.

Before I could even say anything, another voice joined in.

Keiran.

"I KNEW IT!"

He jumped up from the other side of the room like he'd been waiting for this moment his whole life.

"I literally told Keigan last week they were acting suspicious!"

Keigan laughed loudly.

"Yeah, because you say that about everyone."

"But I was right!"

Keifer rubbed his forehead. "Can everyone relax?"

But that only made things worse.

Celestine slowly turned toward me again, a teasing smile forming.

"So… you were just going to keep this secret from me?"

"I was going to tell you," I protested weakly.

"Sure," she said.

Percy was staring at Keifer now.

"So you're dating my sister," he said slowly.

Keifer looked completely unimpressed. "Yes."

Percy leaned back dramatically.

"Wow."

Then he looked at Celestine.

"Did you know about this?"

Celestine smirked. "I had suspicions."

Across the room, Adrian had been quietly watching everything.

He finally spoke.

"Well," he said calmly, "it's about time."

Keifer groaned. "Not you too."

But Keiran wasn't done.

He leaned toward me with a huge grin.

"So… does this mean you're officially part of our family now?"

"Keiran," Keifer warned.

Too late.

Keigan nudged Keifer's shoulder.

"Honestly though," he said, smirking, "I'm impressed. Took you long enough."

My parents were watching all this with amused smiles.

My mother shook her head slightly. "You two could have told us."

My father chuckled. "We figured it out weeks ago."

I stared at them.

"You what?"

Celestine burst out laughing.

"Oh Jay… you were not subtle."

I wanted to disappear.

Beside me, Keifer exhaled slowly.

Then his hand quietly found mine.

Warm. Steady.

I glanced at him.

He leaned slightly closer and muttered under his breath—

"Next time we tell them earlier."

Despite the chaos around us… I couldn't help smiling.
