It was a brand new day and Denver woke to his alarm blaring, although he didn't feel all that bad about it, he wasn't too worried. He was in a much better mood than he was before.
Yesterday a beautiful red-haired lady who had a cheeky grin finally showed up and that was on his mind. It made him really happy.
Beautiful red hair and a beautiful name, Melanie.
All these things brought tonnes of joy to Denver's day. He couldn't believe he was so lucky to have met her and actually met her, got to know her, and even got her name. This idea of getting a name brought him such joy.
He actually jumped out of bed and started dancing in the morning. Very odd for Denver, who is not a morning person.
For some reason the morning went by so quickly and before Denver knew it he was already outside on his way to work.
He walked as though he had a dance in his step. He wasn't just walking; he was actually going from side to side, almost striding as if part of a dance. He didn't care that he looked like a strange person to onlookers that passed by.
He didn't care at all.
The only thing that meant anything to him was the fact that he saw that beautiful girl with red hair and got her name and she said she'd come back. That to Denver was the best thing that's happened to him in days and the fact that it was meant to be a punishment that he stayed late but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
On his way in Denver wondered, "I wonder what wonders await me today? What will happen today? What will I see today? What will I hear? Will I enjoy it or would it be even better?"
When Denver arrived outside the cafe, he looked in at the really open doors, thinking to himself, "Well at least I didn't have to open today. What a joy it is."
When he walked in, he saw Tim, the other person with keys. He asked him, "When did you get keys?" Tim replied simply, "Oh I was given keys yesterday to open up today so I haven't got my own keys yet but I will get a set soon." He said this with a smug and proud face. Denver thought for a moment and said, "Good for you, Tim, good for you."
While doing this he quickly ran to the back in such a jovial mood that he didn't even mind that he was dealing with Tim, strange. He thought, "I'm in such a good mood even Tim can't get me down but even Tim seems to be in a good mood."
Denver quickly got changed. The first thing he did when he arrived at the back of the counter was make himself a nice hot cup of coffee. He was feeling especially happy today. He decided to have a moka, one of his favourite things to have, even offered one to Tim and Tim gleefully said, "Sure, I'd love one." Denver busied himself making two, adding the syrup, various syrups in the milk, and then throwing it in the machine to finish the job. Really the machine does most of the work but you've got to pay careful attention to detail when working with the flavours or you will make it too strong or too weak.
While Denver was speaking quite loudly about this, Tim was just laughing and then he asked, "Did you win the lotto or something?" Denver replied, "No, something far better" and looked up at the ceiling and then stood back and took a dramatic pose. "I Denver have found love," these are the words that parted Denver's lips. He said he met with an angel with red hair and that was all there was to it. Tim looked a bit shocked and then said, "Didn't realise you were that close." When did that happen then.
He was so embarrassed that he jumped the gun and had to say to Tim, "What hasn't happened yet is my hope for the future dear Tim." Although I prefer you keep it to yourself please, Tim nodded and said, "Sure, anything for my pal." Tim called him pal, which shocked him a little bit. He wasn't upset by it; it made him quite happy because now he knew he could actually get on with Tim and he was completely wrong about him. It's just Felix that was the problem.
Denver wasn't bothered by it.
He was quite happy and nothing could sway his spirit to go dark today. Even Felix, of all things, a person he did not admire and did not like, but it would not ruin his good mood.
The day went by smoothly up till about 11:00. Denver went to the back to have his first break of the day. He took himself a coffee and a magazine while drinking the coffee, enjoying reading the magazine, enjoying his coffee even more.
He went to his locker and grabbed a sandwich.
He had one of the sandwiches in his lunch pack, just to give him a bit of a boost for the day.
After he finished and cleaned his mug, he went back in and what he saw was rather strange because what appeared in front of him was as though another angel had come to the world.
She was the woman with blonde hair. Before she was wearing a stunning purple dress and now she was in a purple suit, a pantsuit of all things. It looked really good on her. She wore beige shoes and her beautiful purple hair accessories with blonde hair was tied up with a large purple band of sorts that looked quite fluffy. He wanted to touch it; that's all Denver could think, seeing that everyone else is busy. He ran to the counter, stood in front of that lady, and asked, "What may I get for you?" and "Welcome to our store."
The lady smiled. Her reply was, "Hello again, it's nice to see you." He also replied, "Very nice to see you too. It's very pleasurable to have your presence. Very pleasurable to be in your presence." He muttered and stammered a little. He was nervous; it was obvious.
When she saw this she laughed a little and then she said something Denver did not expect. "Don't worry I won't bite." She then giggled a little and then said, "Not that hard at least at first." She looked down and blushed a little but she quickly returned to her calm state of mind and said, "One cappuccino to go."
She then looked at the glass frame next to the counter where they had sandwiches and various other things and pointed one out. Denver said, "Right, oh I'll get on it."
Denver went into the glass case that was a display as well to grab a sandwich. It looked very good. He placed it in its packet while the machine was running making the coffee. He then grabbed the coffee, put it through the milk and froth dispenser, put it down on the table, took the sandwich that he put in the bag, and put it on the plate he brought out . It was a paper bag just to keep it fresh.
Denver gave her the price and she paid promptly. She then looked at Denver's name tag and read Denver. That's when she said. Her name was Denise. The one interesting thing was that both her names were starting with the letter D. She looked at him for a while and said, "Well see you after my meal." She walked away from the counter and headed for the tables. There were newly placed tables that were displaced outside a few minutes ago, which Denver hadn't noticed until he saw Denise heading towards them.
When Denver saw there were tables outside, he was shocked and asked Tim while pointing at the tables. "When did that happen?" That's when Tim said, "Twenty minutes ago they arrived and we put them outside." Then Tim said, "Another one for the harem mate?" Then Denver thought for a while and said, "If she's okay with it, sure." When Tim was shocked, he said that was a joke, just kidding. I've not had designs on a harem just yet unless we're all okay with it for serious reasons. What I would say is I would pick the one that chooses me.
Mutual feelings are very important but an angel like that would definitely be worthy of all the awkward love, in my mind at least"
Denver said this with a straight face.
How do you feel about it Tim? He asked, quizzically.
Tim thought seriously for a while and then he remarked, "I agree with that. I think it's a very good idea although I'm not too sure I would want multiple people to choose from. I'd prefer one. Wouldn't you Denver?" He asked quite emphatically.
Denver thought about it for a while and said, "I actually do agree with you but the problem is, how do you find that if you have a shot at all?" He looked at Tim with a serious expression as if waiting for an answer. Tim replied, "Guess you should take the risk and ask even if you may get hurt at that moment. Knowing is better than not knowing, right?"
"Well taking a risk is not something to take lightly", Denver said after a while. We sat thinking and wondering and while doing so Denise came in, placed the plate and her cup on the counter, and said, "Thank you very much. See you soon Denver." She said it in such a sweet way that Denver couldn't help but blush.
Denver tried to reply, saying "See you soon," but before he could she was already leaning across the table a little bit, looking at him. Then she said something that shocked Denver completely. "She was right; you are fun to make blush. You're so cute when you act funny" and she said "Ta-ta" and she walked out quite quickly. Denver still hadn't replied to Tim.
When Tim asked, "Are you okay?" Denver replied, "Yes but shocked," a bit slowly. Then he looked at Tim and asked him, "Did I just miss my chance?" Tim thought for a while and said, "Maybe not. You still have another one. Sure she'll come back to it." With a hand on his shoulder to reassure him with a shake and said, "Well for now let's get back to work." Two of them busied themselves about the usual duties for the day and the day was pretty quiet. The end of the shift came up quicker than Denver had expected. His mind was never present the whole day; it was always on what Denise had said and it worried him to no end.
