"So, why are you trying to sneak in through the back door?"
Anjin said with a devious smile, thinking, she got…. Well, what can I say… She did get it.
"Can we just get to the bargain… How much will it cost me this time?"
"Well, I'd have asked for the usual amount, but, this looks serious and I'm opportunist so I'll be asking for 5, this time"
"What?… You're robbing me blind, man"
"So, deal or no deal?…. Answer quick"
"Okay… You win, you will get your payment on Wednesday 3rd week"
"Monday 3rd week and I want one in advance on the Sunday 2nd week"
"Yes to the first request and hell nah to the second one"
"You leave me, no choice then, no deal"
I was frustrated and I was not hiding it from her but what can I do now, besides, accepting her offer.
"Okay, you leave no choice too….I accept all your requests"
"When do I get to work?"
"In roughly, 5 mins give or take…. Lemme show them this badass face first… Then, you be ready, okay?"
"Roger that"
I headed over to our home…. Mom and Dad where watching Tv and drinking white wine. They were laughing and having a good time, as I was about to pass by them, they saw me on the courtyard via the window of the living room and their faces contorted into confusion and then, worry and finally, concerned. Both of them put their wine glasses on the glass table and hurried to me, looking hella concerned, by this time, our plan was going so far so good and now it was time for the execution of the final part of the plan.
Anjin was waiting for a signal from me. I positioned right hand on the back and signalled a count down starting from 5 to 1. Since we're siblings and this was not our first rodeo, picking up signals like this, were like second nature to her.
Now, for introductions, Anjin Conoway, is my younger sister, she's only 8 but she is wiser than most of her peers in the same age range, maybe it's because she loves peanuts, I can't remember how many Paydays I had to fetch her for scenarios like this, well, I have to buy her 5 Paydays for this deal.
The first out of our parents to reach was our Mother, Martha Conoway, she is a typical homemaker and I'm grateful to have a Mom like her. Well, folks will say everyone thinks highly of their Moms but to those statements I raise my trump card, even her scoldings are cute because she got that cutesy voice. She is in a league of her own, she has a cutesy voice, she got those emrald eyes and I should not say this about my Mother but fact is fact, she got good figure too. Sometimes, I wonder how did my Father bag a beauty like her or may be I'm giving him too much credit and my Mom was a naive person. Well, it was good for me that they happened, otherwise, I'd have not happened, the only hope I have to score a girl in the near future is because I have half the genetic make-up of my Mom, Anjin got more luck than me, she is 80% genetic clone of Mom and she also got Dad's brain and our Dad might a low scoring guy in the looks department, but he is one of the finest accountants in his company.
The 2nd place holder, David Conoway, is one of those men, Grandmas all over the world take as a basis to compare their own daughters' husbands to, I mean, this man has no holes in his armour. He is a good earner, behaves well, tall and decent looking, hardly swears and still have hairs with no bald patches to be spotted yet. He is decently tall, my guess is 5'10'' and has normal brown eyes. Also, he is always clean shaven, which makes me wonder, how would he look with a little beard action going on, I have to find his album and try to catch to find out if this man ever dawned a beard or not….What The Heck? Did I just give myself a self mission just right now?…. I think so, yes… Am I going to abandon the mission now that I know it's ridiculous…. Not going to back down now… Sometimes a man needs his ridiculous missions.
As the count down struck to one Anjin appeared beside me in a flash. She was ready with fake tears, the moment our parents were about to ask what happened, Anjin burst into tears and right then and there, our parents were a little flabbergasted at the situation and I motioned to them with a flick of my right hand to attend to Anjin first, as a big brother, the needs of the younger ones must be prioritised over the needs of elders, both of us siblings were good actors I must say.
"On the way back from school" Anjin said while weeping
"Yes, go on, honey" both parents said simultaneously
"Randy was being mean to me, so I shoved him"
"And then"
"Randy was about to hit but then Big Bro saved me"
"But Randy's Big Bro was also there"
"Then…What happened?"
"Randy's Big Bro thought that Charlie was about harm Randy"
"So, Randy's Big Bro and his friends beat Big Bro Charlie to a pulp"
"Oh my poor… Poor boy…. Let me help you with some painkillers and a cold compress for your eyes" Martha said with a mix of concern and care for her son.
"I'll talk to Mason's Dad…. That boy needs some anger management and I'm proud of you Charlie…. Protecting your sister from harm's way is manly thing to do…. This is proof that we have raised a gentleman" said David with his chest full of pride and honour.
I winked at Anjin and she winked back, on the successful execution of our plan.
