Chapter 4 - Chapter 004

The two of them reached a verbal agreement. Diwan then called Xiaoling, asking her to go to the mall and buy a few sets of clothes to be delivered. After all, Xiaoling wouldn't be coming over today—it was her day off.

Xiaoling, however, was a little surprised by the request. She sighed over the phone. Finally, Diwan—usually so reserved—had blossomed, falling for someone without even realizing it. And now she was buying clothes for him!

Diwan tried to explain that things weren't exactly as Xiaoling imagined, but it was no use; Xiaoling just laughed and teased her. Resigned, Diwan let her be—after all, they saw each other at work every day, so the truth would reveal itself in time.

Although it was Diwan's day off, it wasn't Xiaoling's. And when a star didn't work, the assistant still had to report to the company. So, Xiaoling went to the mall at noon, bought a stack of clothes, and arranged for them to be delivered to Diwan's home.

The store, knowing she was a VIP client, shipped immediately. Within an hour, the clothes arrived at Diwan's door. Efficiency at its finest—wealth and convenience combined.

"Let's see if these fit first. We can add more later once you've settled into your job," Diwan said, carrying seven or eight bags into the house. She gestured for Carl to try them on; if they didn't fit, adjustments could still be made.

Carl nodded, taking the clothes from her, and went into another room. It was a guest room, usually reserved for family or friends; there was a room for her parents; and finally, her own room overflowed with clothes, jewelry, and shoes.

Her Shanghai home had four bedrooms, a living room, and two bathrooms—a sizable residence. This was just one of Diwan's homes; she also owned a house in Kyoto, accumulated through years of hard work. Though artists earn well, she had achieved this wealth through relentless effort.

Carl soon emerged from the room, dressed in a fitted black T-shirt and pants. His physique was perfect, his features sharp, and Diwan couldn't help but be captivated—but only briefly. In her world, she had seen plenty of handsome men. It wasn't Carl's looks that unsettled her; it was his aura—strong, commanding, yet still acceptable.

"Not bad," Diwan said, satisfied. "Fits perfectly. Seems I have good taste. You'll need to know how to use the phone for work—don't make mistakes. If anyone finds out you don't have an ID, it'll be my problem."

She handed him a work phone, which Carl accepted. "I'll figure it out," he said.

"ID?" Carl frowned. It was an unfamiliar word.

"You can look it up. Anything you want to know is online. I've already ordered food—it'll get cold, so I'm going to eat. If you're hungry later, you can eat too; I ordered two portions," Diwan said, walking to the kitchen.

Carl handled the phone with ease, moving as if he had lived in this world for years. He researched what an ID was, slowly grasped its importance, and a spark of understanding lit his eyes. For ordinary humans, IDs required official processes—but he was no ordinary human. With his hypnotic abilities, he could obtain them without anyone noticing.

He decided to take care of it today—it wouldn't harm anyone or have negative consequences. While searching for professional knowledge online, he understood what he could and couldn't do. Protecting Diwan was his priority; everything else could wait.

Watching Diwan enjoy her meal, Carl stepped closer with a smile. "I need to get some documents done. That way, no one can discover anything that might affect you."

Diwan froze mid-bite, frowning. "Are you crazy?! You're going to give yourself away?! People aren't looking for you—you came here on your own. Aren't you afraid?!"

Carl smiled confidently. "Didn't you see my records? I've checked the world. My abilities are comparable to yours, and I have advanced hypnotic powers. No one will notice."

Diwan searched online for more information about Superman, realizing the true scope of Carl's abilities. Super strength, advanced hypnotism, even planetary-level powers—reading it all left her dizzy. If he had been upset yesterday, the entire world could have been at risk. She felt the weight of that realization.

"You can't use these powers recklessly," she warned. "Earthlings are fragile. One careless move and humanity could be destroyed. Never use them without permission—understand?"

Carl nodded solemnly. "Once the documents are done, I won't misuse my powers or harm anyone without your consent."

Diwan was shocked. She hadn't expected him to agree so readily, yet he promised, completely serious. Her mind reeled—this man, with the ability to destroy the solar system, was taking her instructions seriously.

She sighed, a mix of relief and lingering fear washing over her. Carl's powers were dangerous, but his intentions were careful.

"Good. Finish the documents quickly and come back. Don't delay your work—I really don't want accidents to happen."

There were always unseen risks in the world, Diwan reminded him. Carl nodded, and then vanished, as if he had never been there. Diwan returned to her meal, now slightly reassured.

After eating, Diwan went to sleep, exhausted from the previous night. The sun climbed higher, its white light turning golden. A gentle breeze from the sea stirred the curtains, waking her.

Rubbing her eyes, messy-haired Diwan got up, washed, and changed into home clothes before heading out.

"Awake?"

She saw Carl sitting on the sofa, a stack of documents on the coffee table.

Curious, she approached and picked them up: IDs, driver's license, certificates from elementary school to university, martial arts certificate, lawyer's license, psychological counselor certificate, and even a bodyguard qualification. Dozens of official documents—her scalp tingled.

She couldn't believe it. In just a few hours, Carl had obtained documents that could take ordinary people a lifetime—or longer. If he wanted, he could dominate the nation.

"You did this with hypnotism?" she asked.

"Yes. No one noticed. All records are now in the national database. Who would verify their authenticity?"

Diwan's eyes widened. This was beyond anything she had imagined. Carl had gone far beyond simple ID procurement—he had obtained multiple powerful credentials.

"Just this once," she said firmly, "never use these powers again. It's inhumane. If the world were as chaotic as you are, it wouldn't work. I regret even telling you."

Carl nodded. "These are just the baseline requirements for existing in this world. Without hypnotism, I might not survive like a normal person."

Diwan finally relaxed slightly. Staying near Carl had been stressful, but his assurances helped her regain a measure of calm.
