Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 - There shall be no peace!

ROSE POV

I had a shower, after which I switched into a light, off-shoulder gown that stopped just below my knees. I started arranging my stuff and setting my room in order because I had left it a bit messy in my bid to be on time for work today. Today wasn't really as stressful as I thought it would be, except the fact that Daniel had drugged me. I'd sure make him pay.

I walked into the living room only to see him still in his work outfit, watching a TV show. Like, how dirty and unorganized can this boy be? Who comes home from work, relaxes on the couch with their sweating body to watch a movie, and feels comfortable? Truly, different kinds of humans exist.

I walked over to where he sat, and blocked his view. He is such a shameless human.

"If you know you don't want to suffer for 600 years, get out of the way!" He yelled angrily at me.

I wasn't moved.

"You are so shameless." I said, pointing at him. "Imagine watching a movie in your smelling suit. I don't even know if you had over washed it to the extent its color faded. How didn't I even notice this?"

"Rose, please, can you just step out of the way. As I have chosen to give you peace this evening, don't you like it?" He responded, obviously frustrated by my attitude.

Peace? Really? So now he wants peace? Oh, there can never be peace. He likes war, I'd make sure he has more than enough.

"Do you think I care about peace? Your name is Daniel, my name is Rose, do you happen to know or see anyone living here who's name is Peace? The answer is no, so you can't have peace." I replied, not willing to let him rest.

Daniel stood up in a fit of rage, and grabbed me by the arm, threatening to beat the hell out of me if I didn't get out of his way. Oh, I was so ready for this showdown. As a matter of fact, let's get it started. I wriggled my arm free from his hand and landed him a resounding slap.

You know, slap has different categories.

We have the resounding slap, the one that once you are hit, you hear a ringing sensation in your head.

The take-away slap, the one that once you are hit, you hold your cheeks and walk away.

Then we have the dirty slap, the one that after you are hit, your vision becomes blurry and you start seeing stars.

Daniel thinks he is crazy, I'd show him that many are mad but few are in the psychiatric hospital. He returned it immediately but I used my other hand to block because I expected that move from him. What followed next was us tumbling over each other, trying to pin the other into submission.

For a man, Daniel is quite weak. I easily got the upper hand, and had almost pinned him to the ground when he struggled and wiggled himself free. After a while of exchanging punches and abusive words, we decided to calm down. We had just wasted 20 minutes of our lives on a nonsense fight that could have been avoided.

"You are a weak, pathetic man. Your kind needs to be studied at the best institute." I said, trying to catch my breath.

Daniel didn't respond. His shirt and tie leaned towards the left side of his body due to me pulling at it. One of his buttons was spoiled. My gown was torn at the side, though it was minor. How did we become like this? When did we start living like animals?

"Daniel, I think we should end this madness, and agree to a truce." I said to him, not willing to continue in the ongoing war between ourselves.

"Truce? Did I just hear you say truce? So after you have satisfied your revenge plan, you are now calling for a truce?" He spat at me. I haven't seen him this angry before.

"You started it. It wasn't my fault!" I spat back. I wasn't going to be the bigger person here.

"There can be no peace in this house as long as me and you are trapped in the same apartment. It's survival of the fittest. Only the strong will survive. Watch and see." He said bitterly, walking away into his room, and slamming the door after him.

I felt bad that I escalated this simple matter, but let's be honest, he was the one who started it all. Or am I overreacting? Should I apologize?

No! I won't apologize. Apology is for the weak. We will settle this the hard way. And as he said, only the strong will survive.

I walked back to my room, feeling exhausted over the encounter. I was tired and didn't want to get involved in such things again. I decided I would do my laundry and iron my clothes so it won't pile up during the weekend.

I picked the clothes I had worn since Monday till today, Wednesday, and took it to where the washing machine stood. There I saw Daniel arranging his own clothes for washing. Oh my God, why do we keep doing the same thing at the same time?

DANIEL POV

Rose keeps getting on my nerves. I have never seen anyone as crazy, as wild and as annoying as she is. Picking fights with a man of my pedigree. She is not even scared of the consequences.

I quickly had my shower, avoiding the bruises I sustained during the fight. Gosh, this girl is quite strong. I don't know if she has been attending the gym or something. The ladies I have always met are almost as harmless as a dove. Even if the management had wanted to pair me up with a lady, must it be with a lady who secretly studied John Cena fighting tactics?

The way she lifted me up in that party some weeks back was really humiliating, like I was a piece of paper that one can lift without stress and throw wherever he or she wishes. I can never marry her kind of woman. She'd end up beating me everyday. Imagine the headline.

"Domestic violence: Wife lifts husband up, and smashes him on a 55 inch plasma TV."

I rather prefer a peaceful home.

I wore a plain trouser without a shirt, picked up my dirty clothes, and walked over to where the washing machine stood so as to do my laundry. Then, within a few seconds, just when I finally had hope in humanity, the witch appeared, carrying her set of dirty clothes.

Does she really need to follow me wherever I go?

Doesn't she like peace, or is she allergic to it?

Immediately she saw me, she turned her face around so she wouldn't look at my bare chest.

"Go wear a shirt. You are not the only one staying here." She said, refusing to look at me.

"If this is what would make you stay far from me, then it is a welcomed development." I replied, putting my clothes into the washing machine.

She turned around to look at me, squeezing her face as though irritated by my statement.

"Really? That's what you think? That I'd stay away from you because you chose to show off this flat chest of yours." She snickered. "I've seen better."

"At least, I am not someone named Rose who follows every guy with big chests." I said, trying to rage-bait her.

"You're just jealous. Your chest is so flat that any girl lying on it would have to deal with your rib cage." She said, trying to mock me. "Now, get your clothes out of the washing machine. I want to wash mine."

"As who?" I replied, shocked at her audacity.

"As your queen, you lowly servant." She snickered. "Step out of the way. I'm a lady and ladies first!"

"Come and take my clothes out." I said, standing defensively in front of her.

It's about to go down
