Chapter 20 - CLOSER THAN EVER

The mansion was quiet that evening, bathed in the warm glow of lamps and candles Nathan had lit throughout the lounge. Outside, the gentle hum of the city faded into the distance, leaving only the soft rustle of the curtains and the quiet rhythm of their breathing.

Audrey sat close to Nathan on the sofa, her head resting lightly on his shoulder. His arm was wrapped around her, fingers tracing idle patterns on her back. They didn't need words—the comfort of each other's presence spoke volumes.

"You're… amazing," Nathan said softly, his lips brushing the top of her hair. "I don't think I've ever felt this… at peace with anyone."

Audrey tilted her head up to look at him, their eyes meeting in a quiet understanding. "I feel the same," she whispered. "It's like… everything else fades away when I'm with you."

The first kiss came softly, a gentle exploration, hesitant yet full of longing. They lingered, taking their time, letting their lips speak the words their hearts had been holding. Each touch, each caress, deepened the connection between them, building a warmth that spread through their bodies.

Nathan held her closer, and Audrey's fingers tangled in his hair. Their breaths mingled, hearts racing, as the intensity of their emotions mirrored the closeness of their bodies. It wasn't rushed or desperate—it was tender, passionate, and mutual.

They moved to the bedroom together, their hands never letting go. The candlelight cast a soft glow over the room, highlighting the gentle curve of Audrey's cheek, the softness of Nathan's smile. They kissed again, longer this time, letting their emotions guide the closeness.

Clothes were discarded slowly, intentionally—not out of urgency, but out of desire to truly see and feel each other. Their hands traced the lines of each other's faces, arms, and shoulders, memorizing every inch. They explored the newness of being fully together in a way that was intimate, sensual, and deeply personal.

Nathan rested his forehead against hers, their breathing in sync. "Are you sure?" he asked softly, searching her eyes for any hesitation.

"I'm sure," Audrey replied, a small, confident smile touching her lips. "I want this—with you."

They held each other close, bodies pressed together in a tender embrace. The world outside ceased to exist; the mansion, the gardens, the distant city—all of it disappeared as they focused entirely on each other. The closeness was overwhelming, yet comforting, and every touch reinforced the trust and love they shared.

Hours passed in gentle intimacy—kisses, caresses, whispered words of affection, and lingering touches. Their bond grew stronger, emotional and physical together, as they discovered the beauty of being entirely present with one another.

By the time the night deepened, they were wrapped in each other's arms, hearts still beating rapidly but in a calm, steady rhythm. Audrey rested her head on Nathan's chest, listening to his heartbeat as he held her close. Nathan stroked her hair gently, the faintest smile on his lips.

"I've never… felt this close to anyone," Nathan whispered.

"Neither have I," Audrey murmured. "I feel… complete with you."

And in that quiet, candlelit room, they found a closeness that went beyond words or touches—an intimacy of hearts, souls, and bodies, built on trust, care, and love. They fell asleep that night wrapped in each other's arms, the world outside forgotten, at peace in their own private universe.
