Sebastian's POV
Dr. Quincy entered the waiting room with that carefully composed expression that made my stomach clench. The look of a man who carried life-altering news behind his professional mask.
The room erupted as everyone jumped to their feet, hearts hammering against ribs, desperate for words that would either destroy us or give us hope.
"The Sterling family," he started, maintaining that practiced bedside manner.
"Tell me," I cut him off, my voice cracking under the weight of fear. "How are they? My wife and my baby?"
He paused, measuring each word like it could save or damn us all.
"Mrs. Sterling's injuries were severe upon arrival. The impact was substantial, and she sustained head trauma while attempting to shield herself during the fall. She lost consciousness before the ambulance reached us. The pregnancy was also compromised."
Silence crushed the room. My pulse roared in my ears while terror painted itself across every face surrounding me.
