Lucas walked past her like she was totally invincible. He obviously did that on purpose and smirked as he continued walking away.
Evie, meanwhile, managed to suppress her rage. She questioned, "Didn't your parents teach you manners, especially regarding your aunt?"
Hearing this, Lucas stopped dead in his tracks. His pride was hurt. His eyes widened with a sharp glint of rage as he slowly turned to look at Evie, who stood tall in confidence. Her laser gaze fixed directly on him.
"What did you just say!?" He asked slowly, in a low and dark voice. He was boiling mad, and he looked like he was going to erupt at any moment.
Feeling mocked, he swiftly took a slow step toward Evie, his hands clenching into fists at his sides.
Evie didn't flinch a little. Her gaze remained unwavering, and her chin was tilted defiantly.
"Oh, I almost forgot you're suffering from an ear impairment. Don't worry, I'll be nice to repeat myself a thousand more times for you to hear my words audibly."
