Chapter 31 - Lady Luck

So the glass was bulletproof. Of course it was, that's why Daniel never let me lower the windows. A huge wave of relief washed over me. Thank goodness.

I leaned back against the seat, grabbed the water bottle from the side compartment, and took a long sip. The cold liquid soothed my dry throat and eased some of the adrenaline-fueled exhaustion.

While I drank, I casually flipped the guy off with my right hand through the window. He kept firing shot after shot, the loud bangs echoing in the quiet forest, but not a single bullet left even a scratch on the glass. Guess he wasn't breaking through tonight.

If he had just focused on the same spot instead of spraying bullets everywhere in frustration, he might have had a chance. But he didn't.

Why the hell did he try to kidnap me? Was he working for one of Daniel's enemies? What could they possibly gain by taking me?
