Chapter 36 - 36. Sasuke's Dark Ido

Kurama Yakumo wasn't seeing the real Ten-Tails, not even a projection of it.

It was merely a construct Sasuke had created to awaken his Mangekyō Sharingan, imitating the resentful inner demon "Ido" from the original Kurama Yakumo.

This creation was rooted in Sasuke's past life as a psychology master, centered on Freud's theory of the Ido, combined with psychological texts from this world and the hypnotic Genjutsu techniques of the Uchiha clan.

The Ido, the earliest and most primal part of the human psyche, is a reservoir of biological impulses and desires, unrestrained by morality or reason, seeking only immediate gratification.

It represents all the repressed, irrational, and unconscious forces within us: our vital energies, inner drives, instincts, impulses, and desires—all the psychological capacities that lie beyond conscious awareness.

In Western culture, the Ido is often referred to as "original sin"." In Eastern traditions, it is known as the "inner demon" or the belief in humanity's inherent evil.

Sasuke's practice of the Yoga Meditation Technique emphasized clearing the mind of all distractions, achieving a state of perfect clarity and tranquility, and immersing himself in his own serene, ethereal world.

To nurture his inner demon, Sasuke, after completing his daily Yoga Meditation Technique, deliberately reversed the process. He amplified his inner turmoil, desires, and primal instincts to their utmost limits. For even greater effectiveness, he even resorted to self-hypnosis.

Using his Sharingan's Genjutsu, Sasuke meticulously collected and sealed away these accumulated negative emotions, a process that spanned over a year.

Recently, Sasuke's relentless accumulation of primal biological urges and the dark impurities of his heart finally coalesced within him, birthing a monstrous entity—a shadow of the Ten-Tails—deep within his psyche.

A monster born from the depths of the Uchiha clan's heritage!

"Sasuke-kun," Kurama Yakumo pleaded anxiously, "do you realize what you're doing? If you continue down this path, the negative emotions within you won't remain mere emotions. They'll solidify into a second personality—a dark, desire-driven persona that could even turn against you and seize control of your body!"

Yakumo desperately wanted to prevent Sasuke from undergoing such a drastic transformation, from becoming a vengeful, resentful, desire-driven monster.

Kurama Yakumo's Kekkei Genkai, in addition to sealing the five senses and creating illusory realms, possessed the power to manipulate reality, to transform illusions into truth.

In the original timeline, she had once painted a lightning bolt striking the Hokage Tower within a picture frame, and the real Hokage Tower had been struck by lightning.

The negative emotions in her heart were so potent that even Yuhi Kurenai's sealing techniques had no effect.

Resentment and darkness continued to fester, giving rise to a dark personality within her—Id.

In the end, Ido, this phantom entity born from negative emotions, even broke free from Kurama Yakumo's body and materialized into a real, monstrous being capable of manifesting in the physical world.

"Let's seal him away, just like you asked me to before."

Sasuke had previously asked her to seal away the darkness within his heart.

Kurama Yakumo had hesitated. In her view, everyone harbors a hidden dark side, and attempting to suppress or eradicate it entirely would only backfire.

Moreover, a person without any darkness within them could no longer be considered whole.

However, under Sasuke's insistence, she had reluctantly agreed. She never imagined the darkness within him would be so terrifying, nor that Sasuke would seek to make it real and unleash it upon the world.

"We do need to seal him away," she said.

"But not yet." Sasuke shook his head, responding calmly, "I'm already aware of your concerns. Trust me, I won't be consumed by him. On the contrary, I'll harness his power for my own purposes."

While Kurama Yakumo possessed the ability to manifest illusions, it was impossible for her to transform a mere fragment of the Ten-Tailed Shadow from her inner world into a true Ten-Tails.

Not even a hundred or a thousand Kurama Yakumos could achieve that.

Sasuke's goal was simply to transform the Ten-Tailed Shadow into his own dark persona.

The negative emotions within his heart were ultimately illusions, cultivated through his own training and self-hypnosis.

Like a reflection in a mirror or the moon's reflection on water, they were fragile and easily shattered.

Only through Kurama Yakumo could they be transformed from illusion into reality, becoming the true darkness within his heart—a second personality.

The dark Ido within Sasuke's heart!

"But..."

"Trust me, Yakumo," Sasuke said, his expression growing serious.

"I still carry the Uchiha clan's deep-seated blood feud, and I bear the responsibility of restoring our clan's glory. Until I achieve that goal, I refuse to allow myself to die or be consumed by my own darkness!"

To emphasize his resolve, Sasuke invoked the name of the Uchiha clan in his words.

Upon hearing this, Kurama Yakumo remained silent for a long moment, glancing first at the indistinct, monstrous figure looming in the shadows, then at Sasuke's resolute expression.

She sighed inwardly.

"Alright."

"Sasuke-kun, I'm going to begin now."

"Mm, thank you, Yakumo."

Kurama Yakumo fixed her gaze on the distorted, maddened shadow of the monster. A flicker of concern crossed her eyes as she swiftly formed several hand seals.

"Illusion Art: True Life!"

As Kurama Yakumo activated her technique, Sasuke's entire inner world was instantly engulfed by surging, boundless currents of energy.

Within moments, as if heaven and earth were collapsing, the blood-red moon shattered and the earth crumbled.

Vast quantities of negative emotions—twisted madness, bloodthirsty rage, sinister malice, impulsive desires, and other dark aspects of both living beings' genetic inheritance and their inner worlds—were continuously devoured by the Ten-Tailed Shadow.

The Ten-Tailed Shadow continued to unleash resentful roars, gradually coalescing into a colossal, corporeal entity—a true Ten-Tails, vast and terrifying enough to devour the sky.

'How terrifying!'

The moment Kurama Yakumo saw the materialized monster, a tsunami of pain, distortion, desire, fear, resentment, and malice crashed through her mind.

Her face drained of color, her mind buzzing with chaos.

Even more terrifying was the overwhelming emotion radiating from the monster: devouring and plundering! It was as if this monster had been born solely to devour and seize.

Even the Yin Release chakra Yakumo had infused into the monster was being devoured and absorbed.

Sasuke stood impassively before Yakumo, shielding her from the oppressive aura and crushing presence of the Ten-Tails creature, allowing her to breathe a sigh of relief.

As soon as the Ten-Tails monster fully formed, it opened a single crimson, malevolent Sharingan eye and fixed its gaze on Sasuke.

Sasuke met its stare unflinchingly, neither yielding nor retreating. The man and beast remained locked in a silent, unwavering duel of wills.

Suddenly, the Ten-Tails monster's massive body began to tremble violently, collapsing piece by piece. Fragments resembling both flesh and wood crumbled away, and its mountain-sized form rapidly shrank as it disintegrated.

It's hard to say how much time had passed, but the Ten-Tails monster's body had completely disintegrated, revealing what lay within its massive form.
