Chapter 37 - 37. Preparations for Awakening the Mangekyō

A figure emerged from the swirling pink dust, no longer in the form of the Ten-Tails, but another Sasuke—one whose appearance, demeanor, and aura were indistinguishable from the original.

He carried the same calm composure.

The only difference lay in their eyes: Sasuke's were black, while this Sasuke's eyes burned crimson red.

His gaze was predatory, savage, and insatiable, sending a chill down one's spine at a single glance.

"You've split me off. Don't regret this later," Ido Sasuke said calmly, approaching Sasuke. Contrary to the expected tension, he simply glanced at Sasuke before speaking.

"My resolve is firm. Regret is out of the question," Sasuke replied with equal composure, his tone as casual as old friends chatting.

"I only hope my actions yield the results I seek, fulfilling my innermost desires. Everything else is irrelevant."

"Hmph! Good then," Ido Sasuke snorted coldly. Having once been one entity, their thoughts and desires remained aligned.

However, Ido Sasuke's ideals were extreme, driven by pure instinct, his actions unbound by morality, ethics, or societal constraints.

"Yakumo, please continue to help me. Seal him," Sasuke murmured softly to Kurama Yakumo, who was trembling slightly behind him.

"I'll assist you from the side."

"Eh? Okay, Sasuke-kun," Kurama Yakumo stammered, stepping forward hesitantly.

She dared not meet Ido Sasuke's fierce, hungry gaze.

"What kind of seal should we use?"

"The Five Senses Seal," Sasuke replied, glancing at the negative Sasuke. "You've been through quite a lot."

"Hah! You're still worried about yourself, aren't you?" Ido Sasuke sneered, his voice dripping with dark mockery. "This emotion will eventually come back to haunt you. I hope you don't break down when it does and let me take over."

"Mm, I understand," Sasuke nodded casually.

"Begin, Yakumo!"

To Kurama Yakumo's surprise, the sealing process went smoothly. Ido Sasuke offered no resistance whatsoever, even seeming to cooperate willingly.

A wave of relief washed over her, and a thought surfaced in her mind:

'Perhaps Sasuke-kun's dark personality isn't as terrifying as I thought?'

'He seems quite intelligent and rational.'

His gaze, however, was a little frightening.

"Thank you for your hard work, Yakumo," Sasuke said, glancing at the motionless Ido Sasuke, who seemed utterly devoid of sensation. He turned to Kurama Yakumo to express his gratitude.

"You're too kind, Sasuke-kun," Yakumo replied softly, then hesitated before adding, "But Sasuke-kun, is this really the right approach? Even though we've sealed him away, there's no guarantee he won't eventually break free. He might even—"

Yakumo still couldn't understand why Sasuke had asked her to materialize his inner darkness into a physical form, only to seal it away afterward. It seemed like such a pointless exercise.

"It'll be alright, Yakumo," Sasuke reassured her quietly, noticing her pale complexion from the exhaustion of repeatedly using genjutsu.

"You should rest for a while. I'll take over from here."

Yakumo paused for a moment before nodding.

"Mm."

As soon as she spoke, her figure gradually faded away, disappearing from Sasuke's inner world.

'I hope what I've done will awaken my Mangekyō Sharingan.'

After Kurama Yakumo left, Sasuke gazed at the motionless figure before him, its eyes tightly shut, and whispered softly.

Realizing it was virtually impossible to awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan through the "gain love, lose love" condition, Sasuke had prepared two fallback plans to achieve this goal.

The first was naturally to increase his spiritual energy.

The second was the dark personality before him—a construct formed from the primal desires inherited from the Ten-Tails deep within the Uchiha Clan's genetic lineage, combined with the negative emotions and inner turmoil of Sasuke's heart.

If Sasuke could awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan within his self-imposed deadline through increasing his spiritual energy, that would be ideal.

In that case, he would annihilate his dark personality, just as Kurama Yakumo had killed Ido Sasuke in the original timeline, ensuring it would never influence him.

However, if Sasuke showed no signs of awakening the Mangekyō Sharingan by his deadline, he would choose to release his inner darkness and merge with it.

By harnessing the immense negative emotions and spiritual energy, he would forcefully awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan.

What would he become after merging?

Would his personality undergo a radical transformation?

Would he succumb to darkness?

Or worse, would the dark personality usurp control, seizing his body entirely?

A beast incarnate, driven solely by primal desire?

Sasuke didn't know—he wasn't even sure if this method could awaken the Mangekyō Sharingan.

Especially considering...

"Human emotions and memories begin to fade within fifteen days, half are forgotten within three months, and ninety-five percent vanish within ten years. Once the absolute Five Senses Seal is activated, one descends into utter silence. Over time, all will, emotions, and memories are eroded away by the unbearable pain, boundless terror, and crushing loneliness. Under such circumstances, the human spirit often collapses within a short time, reducing one to a completely unresponsive vegetative state—far more agonizing than any Black Room or solitary confinement, ha."

The Black Room, a term from psychology, refers to a completely sealed space devoid of sound and light. Even the most iron-willed individuals rapidly succumb to mental breakdown under such conditions.

Yet Ido Sasuke faced a torment far greater than that of a Black Room. Completely severed from his physical senses—sight, hearing, smell—and lacking even the sense of touch, being merely a personified mass of negative emotions, he was trapped in absolute sensory deprivation.

Ordinarily, after such a complete loss of sensation, even the most malevolent personality would collapse within a short time. However, because Sasuke continuously fed him negative emotions to stimulate him, this dark persona would not disintegrate.

This meant that when Sasuke eventually chose to merge with this dark persona, he would not only have to integrate the primal instincts of his bloodline and his own negative emotions, but also instantly bear the overwhelming loneliness and terror accumulated over two years of absolute silence, unable to perceive anything at all!

If he couldn't withstand this prolonged sensory deprivation and the crushing loneliness and fear it brought, it wouldn't just alter his personality and allow the dark persona to seize control—he might even become a vegetative state, devoid of any mental activity.

For Sasuke, this was an incredibly risky and dangerous endeavor.

His personality dictated that he disliked taking risks. Yet sometimes, certain risks had to be taken. The mad ideas in his heart had never diminished, but he rarely acted on them.

"Two years from now, will I overcome this through my own will? Or will you devour me, transforming me into a beast driven by instinct and desire? Or perhaps I'll become a lifeless husk, a vegetable devoid of all consciousness?"

"If I can't even take this step, it proves my capacity is limited."

Sasuke muttered to himself, the corner of his mouth curving into an increasingly wide grin.

His eyes unconsciously transformed into the crimson, menacing Sharingan, flashing with madness and hysteria.

"Let me wait and see, then. Let me see exactly where my capacity lies. Heh heh heh..."

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!"

Sasuke's laughter grew louder and more manic, its twisted frenzy echoing through his empty inner world, a terrifying spectacle that shook the very soul.

As if sensing the shift in Sasuke's emotions, Ido Sasuke, sealed off from all five senses and trapped in absolute silence, also curled his lips into a cruel, bone-chilling smirk.
