Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Death of an office worker

The office lights buzzed softly above rows of empty desks.

It was long past midnight.

Outside, rain tapped endlessly against the tall glass windows of the building.

Inside, only one computer screen still glowed.

Rai sat in front of it.

His messy black hair hung over tired eyes that had not properly rested in days.

His fingers moved slowly across the keyboard.

Click.

Click.

Click.

Documents piled endlessly on the screen.

Reports.

Emails.

Numbers.

Deadlines.

The clock on the wall read 2:11 AM.

Everyone else had already gone home hours ago.

But Rai was still working.

Just like always.

Footsteps echoed across the quiet office floor.

His boss walked past his desk and stopped.

"You're still here?" the man asked casually.

Rai didn't even look up.

"Yes."

The boss nodded with satisfaction.

"Good. The company needs hardworking people like you."

He placed another stack of files on Rai's desk.

"Finish these before morning."

Then he walked away.

Rai stared silently at the new pile of work.

He didn't complain.

He never did.

His life had always been like this.

Work.

Sleep.

Work again.

There was no excitement.

No friends.

No dreams.

Just survival.

His eyes slowly drifted to the window.

Rain streaked down the glass.

For a moment he wondered…

What would it feel like to live differently?

But the thought disappeared quickly.

His fingers returned to the keyboard.

Click.

Click.

Click.

Hours passed.

The office became completely silent.

Even the rain outside had slowed.

The clock now read 2:46 AM.

Rai's vision blurred.

His head felt heavy.

His chest tightened suddenly.

He stopped typing.

Something felt wrong.

His breathing became shallow.

His heart pounded violently inside his chest.

He tried to stand.

But his legs refused to move.

The room began spinning.

The computer screen flickered in front of him.

Rai grabbed his chest.

Pain shot through his entire body.

He gasped for air.

But nothing came.

The last thing he saw…

Was the bright white screen of his computer.

Then everything went dark.

And just like that—

Rai died.

---

A New World

Cold wind brushed against his face.

Rai slowly opened his eyes.

The sky above him was dark crimson.

Black clouds twisted across the horizon like smoke.

He blinked slowly.

"Where… am I?"

He pushed himself up from the ground.

The earth beneath him was cracked and dry like a wasteland.

Strange mountains shaped like claws rose in the distance.

The air smelled of iron and ash.

This place felt…

Wrong.

Completely unfamiliar.

"This isn't Earth."

His voice sounded calm, but confusion filled his mind.

Suddenly—

Heavy footsteps echoed behind him.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Crunch.

Rai slowly turned around.

Three creatures stood several meters away.

Their skin was dark gray.

Two curved horns grew from their heads.

Their mouths were filled with sharp jagged teeth.

Their eyes glowed red.

Demons.

One of them grinned widely.

"Look what we found."

Another demon laughed.

"A human?"

The tallest demon stepped forward.

"We haven't eaten human meat in a long time."

Rai tried to move.

But his body felt weak.

The tall demon grabbed him by the neck and lifted him off the ground.

Rai struggled to breathe.

The demon tilted its head.

"Pathetic."

CRACK.

The demon snapped his neck effortlessly.

Everything went black.

---

Revival

Air suddenly rushed into Rai's lungs.

His eyes snapped open.

He was lying on the same cracked ground.

Alive.

He touched his neck.

There was no wound.

"What…?"

Before he could think further—

A glowing blue window appeared in front of him.

"THE HUMAN IS ALIVE AGAIN!"

The demons began running toward him.

Rai looked at them calmly.

His ice-blue eyes showed no fear.

A small smile appeared on his face.

"If I can't die…"

He cracked his neck slowly.

The demons reached him.
