Aries' POV
The night air was cool after the storm.
The parking lot lights reflected on the wet ground as Jay and I walked toward the car. The rest of the boys had already left with Keifer a few minutes earlier, still whispering and laughing like they had just discovered the biggest secret in the world.
Felix especially looked like he had just witnessed history.
I unlocked the car.
Jay slid into the passenger seat lazily, stretching her arms above her head like she had just woken up from the best nap of her life.
I started the engine.
For a moment neither of us spoke.
The windshield wipers moved slowly across the glass, pushing away the remaining droplets of rain.
Then I glanced at her.
"…You want to explain something?"
Jay leaned her head against the window.
"Explain what?"
I gave her a look.
"You. Keifer. Lap pillow."
She smirked.
"Oh that."
"Yes. That."
Jay shrugged casually.
"He fell asleep."
"That much I saw."
She stretched again.
"He had a headache."
I blinked.
"... headache ?"
Jay nodded.
"Yes .A very strong one. I helped him calm down."
I drove silently for a moment.
Then I sighed.
"You attract weird situations."
Jay grinned.
"Or maybe weird situations attract me."
"That's not reassuring."
She laughed quietly.
The car moved through the quiet streets while the city lights reflected on the wet roads.
After a few minutes Jay spoke again.
"You told Mom?"
"Of course."
Jay groaned loudly.
"Why would you do that?"
"Because you disappeared for hours."
She leaned back dramatically.
"Now Mom is going to start a three-hour lecture."
I nodded.
"Probably."
"And Dad?"
"Probably listening quietly while smiling."
Jay sighed again.
"Great."
Then she suddenly looked at me.
"Oh wait."
"What?"
"Did the boys see us?"
I glanced at her.
"…Yes."
Jay closed her eyes.
"Fantastic."
I almost laughed.
"Felix looked like he was about to write a novel about it."
Jay buried her face in her hands.
"I hate this school."
"No you don't."
"…Maybe a little."
We finally turned into our street.
The large Marino house came into view.
Lights were still on in the living room.
Jay noticed immediately.
"Oh they're all awake."
"Of course they are."
I parked the car.
Before we got out I looked at her again.
"You sure you're okay?"
Jay nodded.
"Yeah."
Then she smirked.
"Don't worry Horoscope ."
"I didn't kill anyone today."
I shook my head.
"That's a low standard."
We got out of the car.
The moment we walked inside the house—
Aunty gemma stood up immediately.
"Jay!"
Mom rushed over.
"Where were you?!"
Dad stayed calm in his chair but his eyes were watching carefully.
Jay raised both hands.
"Relax. I'm alive."
Mom crossed her arms.
"Explain."
Jay walked into the living room and dropped onto the sofa.
"I got locked in the school storage room."
Gemma blinked.
"…What?"
Jay shrugged.
"Long story."
Mom looked at me.
"Aries?"
I nodded.
"That part is true."
Dad leaned forward slightly.
"And Keifer?"
Jay froze.
"…What about Keifer?"
Dad smiled faintly.
"You weren't alone."
Jay narrowed her eyes at me.
"Traitor."
I raised both hands.
"I didn't say anything."
Gemma leaned forward excitedly.
"Wait wait wait."
"YOU were locked in a room with KEIFER?"
Jay pointed at her.
"Don't start."
Gemma gasped dramatically.
"This is like a romance movie!"
Jay grabbed a pillow and threw it at me.
" This is your fault."
Mom sighed but there was a small smile on her face now.
"At least you're safe."
Dad stood up.
"Go get some rest."
Jay nodded.
"Gladly."
She started walking upstairs.
But halfway up the stairs she paused.
Then she looked back at me.
"…Aries."
"What?"
She smirked.
"You're not telling anyone about anythinh."
I raised an eyebrow.
"Depends."
Jay narrowed her eyes.
"Aries."
I smiled.
"We'll see."
She threw another pillow at me before disappearing upstairs.
Gemma burst out laughing.
Mom shook her head.
Dad simply smiled and went back to his chair.
And I leaned back on the sofa thinking about something.
Keifer Watson.
Sleeping on my sister's lap.
Annoying…
