Outside the ballroom, Emily leaned against the car.
Her emotions were a mix of anger and embarrassment.
"I hate this world."
Alexander stood beside her.
"You don't belong to it."
Emily laughed bitterly.
"That's obvious."
Alexander looked at her seriously.

Emily looked up.
"You don't understand."

"Then explain."
Emily took a deep breath.

"And now people think I'm just a girl chasing money."
Alexander stared at her.

"I know that's not true."
Emily looked surprised.

Emily's heart skipped.
