"You think watching out for poison simply because I'm the one who invited you to breakfast is disrespectful to me?" the Queen Mother asked, arching an elegant eyebrow. A soft chuckle escaped her lips as she leaned back in her chair. "Tell me, am I the one who prepared the food in the kitchen? Am I the one who served it to you?"
Finn blinked.
The Queen Mother gestured calmly toward the dishes spread across the table.
"Do you know how many countless hands this food passed through before it finally reached my quarters?" she continued. "From the cooks to the assistants, from the servants to here.....there were more people involved than you can imagine. It only takes one person with malicious intentions to slip poison into a meal."
Her expression turned serious.
"And besides, you should never trust anyone completely, regardless of their rank or status. A title does not make someone trustworthy. In this palace, the only person you can truly rely on is yourself."
