"Are you enjoying it?" Finn asked with a smile as he watched Rose continue devouring the chicken leg and fried rice on her plate.
The little girl was eating so quickly that it looked as though someone might snatch the food away from her at any moment.
Finn couldn't help but feel a pang of sadness.
Just how long had this child gone without a proper meal?
"Slow down," he said gently. "The food isn't running away."
Rose's wolf ears twitched slightly.
"And besides," Finn continued, reaching for one of his butter biscuits, "you'll get to enjoy plenty more food in the future."
The little girl immediately nodded.
Unfortunately, her mouth was stuffed full of rice and chicken, making it impossible for her to reply properly.
"Mmm!"
Finn chuckled.
"Finish chewing first."
Rose's cheeks turned red with embarrassment.
Just then, hurried footsteps echoed through the courtyard outside the royal kitchen.
A few moments later, the chef Finn had sent earlier returned.
