Normal POV
Stare....stare....stare.
"Geez is that all that kid's been doing?" an officer asked the detective beside him.
The detective nodded while taking a sip out of his coffee "yeah, the Itadori kid has been like that ever since we found him at one of Fuyuki's Park. Had the misfortune of running into the mad killer Rynosuke Fujiwara. We've tried asking him if he could give us a description of the guy's location along with the other kid's he's kidnapped but no such luck. Whatever he saw or had done to him...has left Itadori dead silent," he explained slamming his mug down with a hard thud.
He really did hate mornings actually scratch that he hated having to wake up every day and go to work.
But he had to do it, make his contribution to society in some way, and then earn his money.
Honestly, he should have just stayed at the Clocktower as a free-lance hunter instead of becoming a detective they did pay him better.
Money...money...money...as long as he had then he would be content, no?
The real truth was that Nanami Kento felt he could best help society if he went back to his home country of Japan and used his experience abilities as an enforcer to help others.
Be they civilians or people caught up in the moonlit world without a choice.
Helping people and receiving direct gratitude provided him with true meaning to his life rather than his dull and empty work as a Clocktower bounty hunter.
With the recent re-emergence of the Mad Killer though he had been forcing himself to work overtime.
He was also starting to get suspicious of all the convenient gas leak reports...after all it was standard procedure for both the Clocktower and the Holy Church to use.
Considering the year and time it's highly likely that magi had gathered themselves here to fight for the Holy Grail War.
"Sigh...I am going to talk with Itadori one more time," Nanami says to the officer while going over to bring a plate of cookies and milk with him.
The officer gives him a look of doubt "well if you want to sure go ahead but I don't think he'll be able to talk Mister Nanami."
"I have my ways," was his vague response to the officer before entering the office where Itadori continued to blankly stare at the ground.
Silently he placed the plate of cookies and milk beside the kid before leaning back against the office table with his arms crossed together.
"I brought you some cookies and milk to eat. You should eat it's not really healthy for a kid like you to skip out on breakfast," Nanami opened up with.
Dully Yuji lifted his head to stare at the snack beside him before grabbing a cookie and eating one.
"You went through something pretty traumatic, Itadori but I need you to tell me what you can about Rynosuke's hideout. The FCPD can find him and we can stop him from ever being able to harm others like he did to you," Nanami said in a soft tone.
At his third cookie Yuji glanced up looking at Nanami in the eyes and there he saw it. That same haunted look that Nanami often had when he looked at himself in the morning.
His fists clenched up a bit seeing a kid with this look.
Yuji breaks contact and went back to eating "Itadori please look at me," Nanami didn't really want to use magecraft on a kid but if he had to he would.
The kid looks up at him again and this time Nanami asks the same question again "Itadori I'll ask once more can you tell me what you know about Rynosuke's hideout. Any description? Streets? House? Apartment? Underground?"
This time he flicked on all 24 of his magic circuits and tried to implant a hypnosis suggestion into the kid's head.
Yuji's facial expression rapidly shifted, and his eyes turned to a darker shade of red for a split second "what...did you just try to do to me," he questioned.
It takes Nanami a split second to realize Itadori's fingertips are suddenly bleeding and that there were multiple small orbs of blood coated in mana floating around him.
He quickly glances over to the window to see if any of the officers were paying attention but thankfully, they were busy talking amongst themselves.
"Easy kid, I am just trying to help. If I don't catch this guy he's going to keep killing and harming others...is that what you want for more victims like you Itadori," Nanami maintained his cool demeanor.
Yuji frowned before the orbs of blood harmlessly dissipated "I'll tell you but only if you tell me what you really are."
Nanami hesitated...should he really expose himself and reveal the moonlit world to this 7-year old who just went through a traumatic experience?
Hypnotizing him proved to be inefficient and Itadori himself seemed to be connected to the supernatural in some way with the how he manipulated his blood.
How? Was indeed the real question here.
He didn't sense the activation of Itadori's magic circuits if he had any...but he did feel the energy mana that was being used for whatever his blood technique was.
Another sigh threatened to escape his mouth if only he could just peacefully retire away, have his money, live somewhere near the beach, and maybe have a wife.
Nanami continued to weigh his options for exactly four seconds.
Then he pulled up a chair, turned it backwards, and sat down with his arms folded across the top of it.
"I'm what's known as a Magus," he said, "a practitioner of thaumaturgy. What I just attempted to do to you was a hypnosis suggestion which in hindsight was both ethically questionable and apparently ineffective, so I apologize for that."
Yuji stared at him for a blank second.
Nanami waited.
"So, your wizard then!" Yuji exclaimed smacking his right hand over his left while sparkles left his eyes.
Nanami's eyes twitched at that "the correct term is magus although I am more so spellcaster then I am magus. There's a bunch of technical distinctions but I won't bore you with those right now."
Yuji tilted his head "but you still use spells and stuff right?"
"Broadly speaking, yes," Nanami nodded.
"Then that makes you a wizard!" Yuji cheerfully proclaimed.
The blond had to make a decisive effort to not correct the kid again, besides it seems like he was in a better mood compared to before.
Kids aren't supposed to suffer or have such a level of trauma.
So Nanami was inwardly kind of glad to see Itadori acting the way someone his age should be.
-end of chapter two-
So I've gone ahead and included our boi Nanami into this and unlike Akutami-sensei I have no plans of killing him off so rejoice mongrels hahaha!
