Yuji Itadori POV
I groaned pressing my palm against my temple as a pounding headache made itself known the moment my consciousness fully returned.
This dream was much longer than the first one.
I blankly stared at the ceiling for a while.
The ceiling was very clean and very white and had absolutely nothing on it which was exactly the kind of ceiling Nanamin would have. No cracks, no water stains, no glow-in-the-dark star stickers that my grandfather had let me put up when I was four and never made me take down.
Sigh....I kind of missed those stupid stars.
I pressed the heel of my hand against my eyes until the pounding dulled to something manageable and then sat up.
That was when I noticed the note along with the key sitting on top of it.
I picked it up and read it twice and then checked the time on the small clock on the bedside table.
3:20pm.
Damn I'd been out for hours! I rushed out of the bed going straight towards the kitchen.
.
.
.
Opening up the fridge I quickly scanned over the contents inside until my eyes landed on a specific lunchbox with a piece of tape on the lid. On it said to microwave for two minutes in very neat handwriting.
I smiled and began to whistle a random tune while putting it into the microwave to reheat until it was finally done.
After that I went on over to the living room and dropped down on the couch with the reheated lunch on my lap and the remote in my hand and started to randomly flip through channels.
Cooking show, game show, period drama, and the news.
I kept going but then went back to the news.
The anchor was mid-sentence, "-fourth reported disappearance in the Shinto district this week, all involving children between the ages of seven and fourteen. Police have also confirmed the discovery of two bodies near the Mion River waterfront early this morning, both adults, in what investigators are describing as-"
I stopped chewing.
"-no official suspects at this time, though sources indicate the cases may be connected to the ongoing investigation into-"
The spoon bent.
I looked down at my hand. The metal had compressed between my fingers into something that was no longer spoon-shaped, the bowl of it crushed flat against the handle. I hadn't noticed doing it.
I set what remained of the spoon on the edge of the container.
On the television the anchor had moved on to something else.
Four kids.
Two bodies.
Somewhere underneath this city, in the sewer systems there were a pair of monsters running around taking others left and right without anyone to stop them.
The police won't be able to do anything.
'They need to be stopped,' my eyes unconsciously narrowed.
I thought back to the four new names that were currently sitting in a file on someone's desk at the station.
I thought about Kenta and my friends
I pressed my thumb into the center of my palm, not hard enough to hurt but just enough to feel the pressure of it and looked at the television screen which was now showing an advertisement for instant coffee.
Nanamin had told me to stay inside.
Nanamin had also reported everything back to those Church guys.
I looked at the note on the coffee table where I'd left it after reading it the second time 'stay inside the house. Do not leave unless there is a genuine emergency.'
Four kids.
I thought about what qualified as a genuine emergency and concluded that this was doing pretty well in that category.
I thought about what Nanami would say then I also started to think about what I resolved myself to do during the dreams from earlier.
Picking up the crushed spoon I looked at it with some contemplation before setting it back down with a determined look.
'I'm really sorry about this Nanamin,' I thought with genuine sincerity, 'you specifically told me not to, and I understand why and you're probably going to be really upset and I think that's fair.'
I finished eating because leaving the food unfinished would just be a waste and because I was going to need the energy.
Then I rinsed the container out and put it in the drying rack the way Nanami would have wanted.
I snatched my yellow hoodie from the back of the couch.
Picked up the spare key from the bedside table where I'd left it after reading the note and made a note of my own for Nanamin to read once he came back.
'Nanamin -'
'I am really, genuinely, one hundred percent sorry about this.'
There were four more kids on the news. I know where the hideout probably is. I know you told the church guy and I know you told me to stay here.'
But I can't just sit here.
'I'll be careful. I promise. I'll come back.'
- Yuji
'P.S. I bent your spoon by accident. It's on the coffee table. Sorry about that too.'
I left it on the kitchen counter where he'd see it immediately and went over to slip on my shoes. Once I was done I stood in the entryway for a moment trying to vaguely recall where I had escaped from.
I could find it.
I knew I could find it because I had run through those tunnels in the dark with twenty-three kids behind me and while I can't remember every turn that I took I would definitely remember the scent of the place.
Other than that I didn't really have a plan beyond finding it and stopping those two.
I opened the front door, made sure to lock it with the spare key, and stepped out into the afternoon.
The garden sat in the pale light, dented tree visible from the path, the rest of it neat, tended and otherwise unbothered by what I was about to go do.
'I'll try to be quick about this,' I thought, aimed somewhere in the direction of Nanami's general location across the city 'and I'll face whatever lecture comes with it.'
Then I set off down the street at a slow pace that I gradually built up until I became an impossible blur that couldn't be seen.
At my full speed you'd need to have superhuman level eyes to keep track of me.
With how I was going now it should only take me a solid hour or two just to reach the general location of where Giles and Rynosuke could be.
However,....
A small thin trail of blue mana envelops my feet and the speed at which I was running at was significantly boosted.
-end of chapter fourteen-
So just clarify this is the specific episode in fate/zero when Rin goes out to investigate Caster and Rynosuke and will be the moment in which she meets Yuji.
With that said let me know your thoughts and opinions on this so far thanks! And as always Stones and Positive Comments and or Positive Reviews definitely give me a boost in my motivation.
