Chapter 41 - A Name That Carries Power

The conservatory slowly returned to normal after Adrian left.

But for Elena, nothing felt normal anymore.

Students whispered in the hallways about the convoy of black cars that had arrived earlier. Some thought it was a celebrity visit. Others assumed it was a political figure.

No one guessed the truth.

Elena sat alone in the practice room long after her lesson ended.

Her phone rested on the piano.

The photo was still there.

The one the stranger had sent.

She looked at it again.

Then she looked up the name she had heard only an hour ago.

Volkov Group.

At first, the results seemed ordinary.

Corporate website.

Financial reports.

News articles.

But the deeper she searched, the stranger it became.

Energy companies across Europe.

Shipping routes across three continents.

Private security contracts with governments.

Infrastructure projects worth billions.

Elena leaned closer to the screen.

"Forty-two countries…" she whispered.

Her eyes widened as another article appeared.

Volkov Group Listed Among Top Global Power Conglomerates.

Another headline caught her attention.

The Volkov Dynasty: One of the Most Influential Families in the Private Sector.

Dynasty.

The word felt heavy.

She opened the article.

A photograph appeared on the screen.

A large black-and-white image taken years ago.

A younger Adrian stood beside an older man at a formal event.

The resemblance was unmistakable.

Same sharp eyes.

Same cold composure.

The caption read:

Alexander Volkov ; Founder of the Volkov Empire

Elena leaned back slowly.

"So that's your father…"

She scrolled further.

The article continued.

Known for his ruthless negotiations and strategic dominance, Alexander Volkov built one of the most powerful private empires in modern business.

Governments negotiate with him.

Corporations fear him.

And within the company, his authority is absolute.

Elena felt a chill.

"Absolute?"

Her gaze returned to the photograph.

Adrian stood beside the older man, expression calm and unreadable.

Even then, he looked controlled.

Disciplined.

Almost distant.

Another line caught her eye.

His only son, Adrian Volkov, now manages the majority of the organization's global operations.

Elena stared at the words.

"You run most of it…"

Suddenly memories from the academy returned.

Adrian sitting quietly in the back of the classroom.

Never speaking unless necessary.

Never showing off.

Never revealing anything about himself.

And yet,

He had been the heir to a global empire the entire time.

Her phone buzzed suddenly.

A message from Maya.

Maya:

Are you still at school? Everyone's talking about the mysterious billionaire who showed up.

Elena smiled faintly.

She typed back.

Elena:

You could say that.

Another message appeared immediately.

Maya:

Wait… do YOU know him?

Elena paused.

Her fingers hovered over the screen.

How could she even explain it?

That the quiet boy from their academy years,

Was now one of the most powerful men in the world.

She locked the phone instead.

Because the truth felt too strange to say out loud.

Across the city, inside Volkov Tower,

Marcus stood in Adrian's office reviewing security footage.

"The photo was taken from a building across the street," he said.

Adrian stood by the window, watching the skyline.

"Have we identified the sender?"

"Not yet."

 Marcus glanced at him.

"You know what this means."

"Yes."

Marcus closed the tablet.

"They're escalating."

Adrian didn't move.

His voice remained calm.

"They already have."

Lucas leaned against the desk.

"Your father is going to hear about this."

Adrian's expression darkened slightly.

"I know."

Lucas sighed.

"And when he does…"

He didn't finish the sentence.

He didn't need to.

Because in the Volkov empire,

There was one name that carried more power than any other.

And once Alexander Volkov became involved, nothing would remain simple.
