The house suddenly felt unusually silent.
Emma Carter stood near the door, her eyes fixed on the small silver pendant in Jay Dodger's hand. The weak light from the hallway reflected off its surface.
Emma's heart was beating so fast that she could almost here it echo in the quite hallway.
"Where… where did you get that?" Emma asked, her voice trembling.
Jay didn't answer immediately.
He simply looked at her calmly, as if he had been waiting for this exact moment.
After a few seconds, he spoke softly.
"Don't you recognize it, Emma?"
Emma swallowed hard.
"I do… but that's impossible."
Her fingers slowly tightened.
"That pendant belongs to Hena Carter."
The air inside the house suddenly felt colder.
Behind Emma, Adrian Blake stepped forward. His expression had changed. There was tension in his face.
"Jay," Adrian said in a low voice, "stop this nonsense."
Jay slowly turned his head toward him.
"Nonsense?" he repeated.
Then he raised the pendant slightly so the light fell directly on it. The delicate pattern engraved on the silver surface became visible.
Emma's breath caught.
She remembered that pattern perfectly.
Hena had worn that pendant almost every day.
"No…" Emma whispered.
"This can't be real."
Everyone believed Hena had died that night.
That terrible night.
Jay's calm voice broke the silence.
"Are you sure Hena died that night?"
Adrian suddenly shouted.
"Enough!"
His voice echoed in the hallway.
Emma turned around in surprise. Adrian rarely lost his temper like that.
Jay, however, remained completely calm.
"Why are you so nervous, Adrian?" he asked quietly.
For a brief moment, fear flashed in Adrian's eyes.
"Because you're lying," Adrian said firmly.
Jay tilted his head slightly.
"Am I?"
He took one slow step forward.
"Then why don't you tell Emma what really happened that night?"
Emma felt a chill run down her spine.
That night.
Rain pouring outside.
Voices shouting inside the house.
Hena crying.
Emma closed her eyes for a second.
The memories were returning.
"Jay…" she said softly.
"How do you know about that night?"
Jay looked at her with a serious expression.
"I don't just know," he replied.
"I saw everything."
Emma stared at him in shock.
"You… were here?"
Jay nodded slowly.
"Yes."
Adrian immediately shook his head.
"That's a lie."
His voice sounded tense.
"You weren't even in this town that night."
Jay gave a faint smile.
"Are you sure about that?".
Adrian didn't answer.
Emma looked at both of them, confused and frightened.
"Then tell me," Emma said quietly.
"What happened that night?"
Jay took a slow breath.
"Rain was falling heavily," he began.
"I was standing outside this house."
Emma's heart skipped.
"I could see everything through the window."
Adrian suddenly shouted again.
"Stop talking!"
But Jay ignored him.
"I saw you and Hena arguing."
Emma remembered.
Hena had been angry.
Very angry.
She kept saying the same thing again and again.
"I'm going to tell everyone!"
Emma whispered,
"And then…?"
Jay continued calmly.
"Hena walked toward the stairs."
Adrian's body became stiff.
Jay's eyes locked on him.
"And then…"
He paused for a moment.
"You pushed her."
Emma gasped.
"No!"
Adrian immediately shouted,
"That's not true!"
Jay spoke quietly.
"I saw it with my own eyes."
Emma's hands started shaking.
"Hena… she fell down the stairs…"
Her voice broke.
"And we thought she died…"
Jay slowly shook his head.
"But she was still alive."
Emma froze.
"What…?"
Jay lifted the pendant again.
"I found this pendant that night."
Adrian's face had turned pale.
"Where have you been all these years?" he asked.
Jay looked straight at him.
"Waiting," he said calmly.
"Waiting for the truth to come out."
At that exact moment—
A loud sound came from outside.
A car door slammed shut.
All three of them turned toward the door.
Emma's heart began pounding again.
The porch light flickered.
Jay smiled faintly.
"Well," he said softly,
"It looks like someone else has decided to return tonight."
Emma slowly looked toward the doorway.
A shadow was moving outside.
Step by step, someone was approaching the porch.
The light flickered again.
And when the light finally revealed the person's face—
Emma's eyes widened in shock.
Her lips trembled.
"No…"
she whispered.
"That's impossible…"
Because the person standing outside the door—
was Hena Carter.
And around her neck—
was another silver pendant.
Hena slowly looked at Adrian.
A faint smile appeared on her face.
"Hello, Adrian," she said quietly.
"Did you miss me?"
The house fell completely silent.
Emma's mind was spinning with only one terrifying question.
If Hena was alive...
Then who was died that night.
To be continued...
