"What?!!!"
Killua jumped straight up. The others weren't doing much better either.
"Killua's family?"
"That legendary Zoldyck family? If he's this strong, he's probably one of their core members."
"Killua, do you know him?"
Killua stared at Gittarackur's face. The more he looked, the more he felt something was off. Then it gradually became clear in his mind.
He finally realized where that sense of familiarity was coming from.
"Have you figured it out? In your family, the one who's skilled at using that kind of needle and can alter his appearance so easily is probably only…"
"My eldest brother!" Killua spat out each word one by one.
His whole body turned cold, and the hairs all over him stood on end.
"No way. In the rest of the Hunter Exam, I need to stay as far away from him as possible. I absolutely cannot run into my big brother!"
Killua made his decision on the spot, then actually hid behind Gon.
That made Kurapika and the others extremely curious. Just what had happened between Killua and his older brother for Killua to react like this? His brother actually scared him into acting like this.
But that was still someone else's family matter, so Gon and the others couldn't very well ask.
Two hours later, the ship arrived at Zevil Island and docked at the shore.
The person in charge went ashore first, then said to the examinees still on the deck, "We've arrived. Please disembark one by one in the order of the drawing just now. Two minutes after the previous person gets off the ship, the next one may land."
"You will remain on the island for one week. During that time, gather six points, then return here."
"Now, the first examinee may disembark."
The moment those words fell, Roy stood up and leaped toward the shore. Under everyone's gaze, he walked toward the dense forest.
However, when faced with the primitive forest on the isolated island, Roy did not plunge straight in. Instead, he chose to stay at the entrance to the forest.
This obviously went against the spirit of this exam, which was supposed to be about wilderness survival and hunting one another. Roy clearly had no intention of playing any kind of stealth game.
As the first person to pass the third phase, Roy couldn't care less what the others thought.
The second person to go ashore was Android 18. She was just as calm, and instead of entering the forest, she walked over to Roy. It was obvious that she had the same plan as him: guard the entrance to the forest.
The expressions of the remaining examinees on the ship gradually turned ugly. Standing guard at the island's entrance so openly like this...
"Hey, Chief Examiner! This counts as cheating, doesn't it?!"
Some examinees started shouting.
"Strictly speaking, they have already set foot on Zevil Island, so they are acting within the rules I established. This cannot be called cheating or breaking the rules. On the contrary, they are simply making use of the rules. After all, they were the first to pass the third phase."
Lippo's words quickly settled the matter, leaving the examinees feeling utterly stifled and miserable.
All they could do was secretly pray that they were not the hunting targets of those two.
Next came the third person, Gon. After stepping onto the island, he exchanged a glance with Roy and the others, then slipped into the jungle...
After that came Kurapika, Leorio, and Killua, boarding the island one after another.
By the time the seventh person had landed and Gon's group had all set off, Hisoka, Illumi Zoldyck, and Hanzo had also entered the forest.
Because Gon and the others knew Roy's hunting target, they walked in with complete ease.
Hisoka and Illumi Zoldyck simply passed by Roy without the slightest concern, and Roy did not even glance at them.
When it was Hanzo's turn, he gave Roy a very wary look. After realizing Roy had no intention of paying attention to him, he felt slightly relieved, though he still remained on guard as he slowly and cautiously made his way into the forest.
Then came the thirteenth person. A dark-skinned man with curly hair, wearing a hat and sunglasses, stepped ashore. In his hand was a weapon shaped like a cane.
This was Examinee No. 384, Geretta, and he was Roy's target.
After landing, Geretta carefully kept his guard up against Roy while heading straight in the direction Gon had left.
Just like in the original story, his target was Gon.
However, the thing he least wanted to happen did happen: Roy directly turned his gaze on him and started walking toward him.
A deeply ominous feeling instantly rose in his heart. Then, in the next moment, Roy pulled out a slip of paper.
That piece of paper made his heart sink straight into the abyss.
It was the drawing slip from earlier, and the number on it was exactly his badge number:
No. 384!
The examinees still on the ship who had good eyesight saw the slip in Roy's hand and immediately let out long sighs of relief.
After all, no one wanted to face a monster who had defeated the Chairman of the Hunter Association!
For a moment, the few examinees who remained, including Tonpa, couldn't help but feel a mixture of sympathy, pity, and a bit of schadenfreude toward Geretta.
Geretta's hand gripping the blowgun-cane had gone pale from the force of his grip.
His palms and forehead were covered in sweat.
Damn it, how did this guy end up drawing me?!
