It was annoying to have to wait, and even more irritating to realize that it was something my body was not completely against. She was a beautiful woman, that much was clear—perhaps even more so than Gessia, who had kept throwing herself at me despite knowing well enough that her persistence was not born of affection.
Whatever Gessia's intentions were, they came after the power she had promised. The power my brother and I needed if we were to face the Alpha of the Moonburn pack and his men and win. We had yet to kill his son, but it was only a matter of time before Axel framed his death as an accident, regardless of the result of the vote. His anger had worsened over time, growing heavier, darker, and I did not blame him.
