Chapter 10 - TLANDAR VS GOR’VAKOR, END

Thranvalis Contest, Boulderkeep

The fight with Valkatlian general, Gor'Vakor continued. Tlandar cut with his asemeri blade from right to left, slicing at Gor'Vakor. The Valkatlan general, almost 7 feet tall, of strong, Xothek genetics, blocked Tlandar's asemeri curved sword with his broad blade. He sent an straight kick at Tlandar, pushing him forcefully backward. Tlandar kneel on one knee as he raked the floor with his blade as he was flying backward. "You won't win this battle. I'm stronger than you are," Gor'Vakor said. "Astashica chosen me!" Tlandar said. Then he rose up forcefully and sliced his blade down from top to bottom at Gor'Vakor. The tall Asemeri general barely evaded. It was a familiar move to him, but there was something about Tlandar. He was extremely unpredictable and was feeling unsecure. "You try and try boy! But I'm the master of this!" Gor'Vakor said.

Tlandar went berker mode. He began to cut in all directions with his asemeri broadsword, wether it hit or missed its target. The fight became intense. Gor'Vakor was pushed to the limits, and was just blocking and deflecting Tlandar's blows with his blade. "It seems you're not that vulnerable!" Gor'Vakor said. "I will defeat you!" He added. Then he began to mix flying kicks and cuts and blocks. "You are stouthearted, Gor'Vakor!" Tlandar said. "I will defeat you, Tlandar; kneel before me!" Gor'Vakor said. "I am the Protector!" Tlandar said. Then, suddenly, Tlandar began to get disoriented out of nothing. Gor'Vakor mounted Tlandar on his shoulders, and hurled him flying away, forward. Tlandar was thrown forward, about eight feet in front of Gor'Vakor. Tlandar landed on the muddy ground, flat on his back. His asemeri broadsword had flown away from his hand, a few feet away.

Tlandar's Genetic Activation

Tlandar was mysteriously dizzy. "I see everything whirl around me!" Tlandar said. Then, suddenly, he heard a telepathic, female voice. "Tlandar, believe, have courage! Rise, Protector!" Then an strong, powerful, energy wind emerged from his body. All his senses straightened up. His dizziness stopped. He got on his feet right away, almost as if levitating a foot off the ground. Then levitated straight, a few feet off the ground. An strong wind gushed about his being, lifting the dust up and whirling about his being. Then he shouted, as he uncoiled all the ligaments of his body and looked at the ceiling. His gaze returned normally, back to Gor'Vakor, as he looked at him with bright, glowing, ethereal-like eyes. Then he put his feet back on the ground. And Gor'Vakor ran towards him with his two asemeri broadswords, one in each hand. He cut at Tlandar in all directions, but Tlandar moved incredibly faster and more intelligently than him. He blocked, stole one of Gor'Vakor's blades and exchanged 10 cuts and blocks with him, until finally parrying the final, cut above his head. Tlandar shouted and blocked the strike above his head, strongly, forcefully, and the clash of the blades bent Tlandar's and Gor'Vakor's blades at once.

"Oh no! Guessed we are in trouble now!" Gor'Vakor said, as he looked at his kuprix, bent, useless broad blade. Then discarded it, threw it away. And Tlandar threw his blade away as well. "Gor'Vakor, mighty general of Val'katl, surrender!" Tlandar said. "I yield to you Tlandar, I respect you," Gor'Vakor said. Then the crowd shouted in excitement, shouted words of admiration at Tlandar. Vraek got off his seat. "Boulderkeep, Tlandar emerges victorious. Gor'Vakor is defeated!", Vraek said. The crowd stomped the floor in excitement. "How is it possible? Tlandar defeated the strongest warrior of Val'katl!" Chieftain Val'katl said. He was in the Chieftain Box, watching the bout. Then Gor'Vakor bowed at Tlandar, in respect. "May your power grow stronger! For Astashica!" Gor'Vakor said, then left the arena.

A Valkatlian soldier blew his asemeri horn twice. Two Valkatlian soldiers, on top of the pit, waved two Valkatlan dark green banners, with a golden griffo, six stars, two curved, asemeri khopesh swords crossed, sewn into it. The crowd drew increasingly excited, twice more from the previous rounds. Tlandar returned to his spot, close by a wall in the arena pit, and sat in seiza position. A Valkatlan soldier walked down from above. "Protector Varn, would you need a replacement weapon?" he said. "Bring me an strong, cedar, herding staff please," Tlandar said. "I guess we might not have a herding staff, but we can get you a military issued wooden staff, if you like," the Valkatlan soldier said. "Its good, bring it to me," Tlandar said. Then the soldier walked up a nearby stairs. "Get me a military wooden staff for Tlandar!" the soldier said. Another soldier brought a six feet tall, sturdy, cedark staff, fashioned like a twisted vine. "This is all we have around, we lack staffs as we fight with real weapons in the pit," the Valkatlan soldier said. "Its fine" the soldier bringing the staff to Tlandar said. Then walked down the stairs of the pit and furnished the elaborate staff to Tlandar. "Thank you much," Tlandar said. Then returned back to his station, above the pit. Tlandar placed his new staff, in the ground, near him. He was sitting in seiza position and scanned the atmosphere around him. He saw a female, Valkatlan soldier walked down to him. She carrier a golden tray with subtropical fruits, vegatables, cheese, asemeri snacks and asemeri energy bars. "Here, eat, you need it," she said. She placed the tray in Tlandar's hands. "Feel and remain patient until the next round," she said.

The crowd went back to chattering and laughing. A good, cheerful spirit spread throughout the spectators. "Whom of you wants to go down next, to face Tlandar?" Chieftain Val'katl said, as he talked to his remaining five asemeri generals, whom haven't fought Tlandar yet, and awaited in the Chieftain's Box. They began to talk amongst themselves in private what had happened in the last round. "This is the spirit of Astashica" Chieftain Val'katl said. Tlandar's genetics resonates and works well with the spirit of Astashica. He is of purer Temsek stock than all the temsek beings of Astashica. Therefore, he has capable of interfacing with powers beyond our understanding," Chieftain Val'katl said. "You mean, he's not Temsek at all, but more like an original inhabitant of Oasis, a mysthic planet of oracle?" one the five Valkatlan generals said. "Exactly and he is more than that, and you'll understand soon enough," Chieftain Val'katl said.
