During the first week of school it was normal for the students of class 1-a as they trained, they studied for tests and ate their meals and talked to one another. But everyday they would hear something that annoyed them, there were rumours and gossip from other students explaining that class 1-a is the only classroom that is missing a student. They heard the chatter and laughter from those students and it annoyed them everyday in the first week. They saw it on media posts from their phones, chattering across the hallways and eyes observing them as if they were belittling the students of class 1-a.
"We need to stop this" Aoi tired of hearing their names being spoken by others.
"Well it can't stop if it's true" Reiko crosses her arms
"But can't you hear they are making fun of us?"
Hino approached them "I mean your not wrong, we can't have a single piece of peace knowing everyone is staring at us, during lunch, training, or in public"
"To think being looked down by others, it is a shown by dominance and superiority, everyone want to feel powerful than the others"
"Well that can't be helped Goshi, if we're going to be known as 'the class with a missing student'"
"Then we shouldn't let them think that giving the thought that missing a student would make us weak. Like Sensei Hayami we have to adapt"
Reiko nodded "then we should prove to them that we can adapt without having a full class"
Later Hayami held a test for each other's quirk as he announced there will be a quirk apprehension test. It will be put into three tests, the first was a quirk test to show how they used their quirks in certain exercises, the next is limits and control, and the final is a one vs another match but as there is nineteens students the one who got the lowest score in the first two test will not participate, this made everyone felt eager to do their best and give their all.
The first test began as each showed how they used their quirks, when running Blaze and Poller were ahead from the others as they are considered to be the strongest in their class by strength, Euro uses his dimension walk to get pass through the others, Uni and Sachi extend their legs to get further and Fennal uses his paths, but there was no sabotage a rule set by Hayami. Then when endurance Blaze had a blast working out, while Hino, Kuruoda, Aoi and Senda kind of struggled for doing a plank for more than five minutes. For range, Goshi, Mondo, Delmon, and Astral were firing their projectiles at dummies, but with help from Mizuno's vector sight their aim was getting better thanks to Mizuno's advice. Then the next test was to show their limits and control, Senda and Flare fired off their foam and sculptures, as Blaze radiant with heat and punched through their defence showing the time how the foam needed to hardened and the ice needed to form, and to show Blaze's limits as steam began to emit from his body. Goshi was obviously limited when his sword was taken away and replaced with a training wooden sword and that he can go for the range or step close for a close combat maneuver. Aoi summoned her pollen as Delmon dug underground and Reiko uses her interior quirk to find Aoi, but doesn't know how to retaliate as she cannot fight back. Poller was tested for his bear instincts as he chased after Uni, Sachi, Euro, and Fennal, he was running on all fours and gaining on them, but they used their quirks to get away from him by the distance they could muster. Hino danced, Mondo tried to aim with his power balls, Doc Doc controlled some dummies and Kuroda stopped them. Astral couldn't use her camera and only fired her shards at Hamour as he slams his head creating a shockwave pushing her attacks away.
They all continued to see their limits and control till Hayami stopped them all and announced how they did. The first five students he deemed to be the best of his class were Blaze and his heated durable body, Poller's polar bear instincts, Senda and Flare's defensive potential, and Euro's dimension walk, the next fight were Mizuno's and Reiko's strategic uses of their quirks, Aoi's pollen, and Uni's and Sachi's elastic bodies. The next five students are Delmon's digging, Mondo's power balls, Goshi's limited yet good combat instincts, Hino's dancing, and Fennal's paths. But when it came down to the four remaining students only the three left he picked.
The first was Hamour's shockwaves showing how devastating it could be when controlled, next was Doc Doc's control, able to understand things he controls just from his strings. But when it came down to Astral or Kuroda, Hayami chose Kuroda as his static bind to immobilize the opponent is useful, though that makes Astral last as she may look useful with her shards, she is more powerful with her camera as it had the potential to blind others temporarily when she uses her quirk with it.
Astral was brought with disappointment as she cannot participate in the third test as she is to sit on the bleachers but was given back her camera as she wanted to take pictures. The final test of the sparring match and Hayami randomizes the pairs as to who is going to face against who.
Blaze vs Flare
The battle was quick as Flare created many ice sculptures to protect her from Blaze brute forcing his way towards her and breaking through her frosty defence. Blaze took granted of the ice as it felt nice going through his burning body as no matter how many times Flare trapped him in ice, his heated body made the ice melts. Flare surrendered knowing she is at an incredible disadvantage and knows her limit.
Senda vs Delmon
Delmon immediately dug underground as Senda fired his compression foam around the arena and plugged the holes Delmon made. But the foam couldn't harden in time as Delmon launched himself into the air from the ground and threw his spikes at Senda, he quickly spread more foam to create a barrier but then Delmon pierced through grabbing Senda and showed off more of his spikes giving Delmon the win.
Doc Doc vs Hino
This match was simple as Hino tried to use his dance blast on Doc trying to make this battle quick and flawless. But Doc Doc uses his strings and needles to grab and control Hino as he was forced to bow and surrender to Doc Doc as an act of mercy.
Poller vs Uni
This match was interesting as with Poller's polar bear size being bigger than Uni, she uses her mobility to become a spring bouncing around and dodging Poller's swings from his claws. Uni then bounced behind Poller as she reached for Poller's shoulders and Poller him backwards falling to the ground. They were shocked to see how size isn't always everything.
Goshi vs Mondo
Mondo threw out his power balls, as Goshi retaliated his sword glowed with energy and swung firing sword beams, they collided making subtle explosions with every contact their project tiles had made. But Goshi was quick to close in dashing forward and using his instincts to deflect an incoming power ball, as he pointed the tip of his blade at Mondo's throat giving him the win.
Mizuno vs Reiko
This match didn't seem normal as both of their quirks required analysis as one can see and one can detect. But it didn't stop for one or the other to attack each other, Mizuno can see every move Reiko tried to make with an attack, and Reiko is looking for a subtle mistake in Mizuno's movement and trying to see for a weakness. But Mizuno took down Reiko when she threw a punch as Mizuno grabbed it, and pinned her to the ground.
Fennal vs Kuroda
Fennal uses his pathways to evade and hit and run on Kuroda as he is having trouble trying to use his static bind. But he looked at the paths Fennal made and placed his hands onto the path and released a charge of static that reached towards Fennal immobilizing him and gave Kuroda the win as unknowing to him two girls blushed.
Aoi vs Euro
This is the final match as it started, Aoi releases her pollen and Euro watches thinking strategically as he cannot get close without inhaling her pollen. Aoi began to walk closer as the pollen followed as well, Euro was limited from the normal eyes that could see, but Euro took a deep breath as he activated his dimension walk and went through the pollen and towards Aoi. Keeping his breath still he placed his hands onto her shoulders and teleported her at the edge and pushed her away, winning him the match.
When all matches were finished Hayami clapped his hands "well done everyone, you did well" as he noticed the time "alright that will be all for today be sure to reflect what you could have done differently and maybe next time you'll adapt to the next match."
They were all grateful for the experience and Astral was satisfied as she had good photos for her work, but was told not to make it into a magazine and prepare it for year books. When the day at school ended, the nineteen students were done school. They headed back to their homes and studied, worked on their quirks, or rested and tomorrow they will not worry about their missing student as they can work together without the twentieth student.
