The night in Mystic Falls had become unusually quiet.
Too quiet.
The wind moved slowly through the tall trees surrounding the old town square.
Even the animals seemed strangely silent.
As if the entire town could feel something approaching.
Something powerful.
At the edge of the town…
Klaus Mikaelson stood still beneath a streetlight.
His hands rested casually in his coat pockets.
But his eyes were focused.
Sharp.
Predatory.
Beside him stood Elijah Mikaelson, calm as always.
Elijah watched his brother carefully.
"You've been smiling for five minutes."
Klaus chuckled softly.
"Can you blame me?"
Elijah raised an eyebrow.
"That depends."
Klaus turned slightly toward the dark street ahead.
"Rebekah wasn't exaggerating."
Elijah followed his gaze.
"You can sense him."
Klaus nodded slowly.
"Oh yes."
His smile widened slightly.
"And it's fascinating."
Footsteps echoed quietly along the empty street.
Calm.
Unhurried.
A tall figure slowly appeared under the next streetlight.
Alexander Nightshade.
His golden eyes reflected faintly in the darkness.
His posture relaxed.
Almost casual.
As if meeting two Original vampires in the middle of the night was completely normal.
Klaus watched him approach.
Carefully.
Curiously.
Then finally spoke.
"Alexander Nightshade."
Alexander stopped a few feet away.
His expression calm.
"Niklaus Mikaelson."
Klaus laughed quietly.
"Well now…"
"You know who I am."
Alexander shrugged slightly.
"You're not exactly subtle."
Elijah hid a faint smile.
Klaus, however, seemed amused.
Klaus slowly walked closer.
Studying Alexander with the sharp instincts of a thousand-year-old predator.
"My sister seems very interested in you."
Alexander raised an eyebrow.
"Rebekah tends to be curious."
Klaus smirked.
"She also tends to get what she wants."
Alexander simply replied—
"Most people try."
For a moment…
No one moved.
The tension between them was almost physical.
Even Elijah could feel something unusual.
Something ancient.
Something difficult to define.
Klaus tilted his head slightly.
Examining Alexander more closely.
Then his expression slowly changed.
From curiosity…
To genuine surprise.
Klaus whispered quietly—
"That's impossible…"
Elijah looked at him immediately.
"What is it?"
Klaus didn't answer at first.
His eyes remained locked on Alexander.
Then he spoke slowly.
"Your aura…"
Alexander said nothing.
Klaus continued.
"It's older than a normal vampire."
Elijah frowned slightly.
Klaus took another step forward.
Now only a few feet away from Alexander.
His voice became quieter.
More serious.
"But it's not Original either."
Alexander finally smiled faintly.
"You're very observant."
Klaus chuckled.
"It's one of my many talents."
Elijah now spoke calmly.
"So perhaps you would like to explain what exactly you are."
Alexander looked at both brothers.
Then calmly answered—
"No."
Klaus burst out laughing.
A loud, genuine laugh.
"I like him."
Klaus looked genuinely entertained now.
"You stand in front of two Originals…"
"And refuse to answer a simple question."
Alexander shrugged slightly.
"You asked."
"I declined."
Klaus smiled slowly.
Dangerously.
"Most people don't decline me."
Alexander's golden eyes glowed faintly.
"Most people aren't me."
Elijah glanced briefly at Klaus.
Because that sentence sounded dangerously familiar.
Klaus studied Alexander again.
Then suddenly smiled wider.
Not angry.
Not hostile.
But excited.
"This town really has become interesting."
Alexander replied calmly—
"It tends to happen."
Klaus suddenly stepped back.
Relaxing his posture.
"Well then, Alexander Nightshade…"
"Mystic Falls is a small town."
He smiled slightly.
"We'll be seeing a lot of each other."
Alexander nodded once.
"I'm sure."
Klaus turned away and began walking.
Elijah followed him calmly.
But before leaving—
Elijah glanced back briefly at Alexander.
His expression thoughtful.
Then the two Originals disappeared into the darkness.
Alexander remained standing in the empty street.
The wind moving softly around him.
His golden eyes watched the direction Klaus had gone.
Then he chuckled quietly.
"Niklaus Mikaelson…"
"Interesting."
Across town…
Inside the Salvatore house…
Stefan suddenly looked up from his desk.
Because he felt it too.
Two Original vampires.
And something else.
Something far older.
Stefan whispered to himself—
"What exactly is Alexander?"
Meanwhile…
Inside the Mikaelson mansion they had just taken over…
Klaus poured himself a glass of bourbon.
Elijah stood nearby.
Watching him.
Finally Elijah spoke.
"You're unusually excited."
Klaus smiled slowly.
"Of course I am."
He raised the glass slightly.
"For the first time in centuries…"
His eyes darkened with curiosity.
"I've met something I don't understand."
Then he added quietly—
"And I intend to find out exactly what he is."
