Aren woke up like it was any other day.He had quickly gotten used to the environment of the cell he had been put in.
"It's been four days since I was put in here"he said with a hint of exhaustion in his voice. "The food they make here is terrible" he said desparetly.
He then stared at the ceiling like it was the most interesting thing in the world. It was as if the most likely way of death for him was boredom. He then looked at his shackles. They were the same shackles he had worn when he was caught at the outskirts.
He still hadn't figured out which crime he had committed. Which was terrifying for him because he didn't know whether he had even done it , so he could not defend himself. Everytime he tried to trace back his steps he felt a crushing pain in his head, it felt as if the universe itself was preventing him from finding the truth.
As he was deep within his sea of thoughts something caught his attention a blistering light blinded his eyes and made his vision blur. He was suddenly in a desert but the light was still there. So he decided to chase it . He got closer and closer yet it got further and further. Until it stopped. And once he reached it he quickly tried to grab it then a cold feeling rushed past him.
When he looked down he realised that he was falling. At an alarming rate at the speed he was falling it seemed his death was imminent.
As he hit the ground a realisation came to him. It was just a dream.
He looked around his cell and saw no abnormalalities. Well that didn't matter anymore.
After that he heard footsteps echoing in the tunnel leading to his cell. It was two escorts from the law enforcement squadron which was considered the best performing squadron in the kingdom.
One of them unlocked the lock while the other one watched.
"Sir may you kindly step out of the cell" they said.
After that Aren stepped out and was guided to the court where he would learn his fate.
